Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM Adrenaline & Extreme Tours
I was over on a trip with a group of about 10-12 drivers and we rented cars through RSR for a track day on the ring. RSR set us up with cars ready to go (brand new tires on some cases) and instructors to make sure we didn't do our first laps alone. Throughout the day, they handled refueling and checked the cars to make sure we would be safe. As a result, I was able to fully enjoy my day and simply worry about the task at hand, crossing off a major item from my bucket list and becoming a better driver. Cheers to Ron and the team! - 4.5 Deutsches Eck (German Corner) (2.156 reviews)
-German pride corner
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Koblenz by itself isn't terribly attractive (it was hit hard in World War II), but its place at the historic Deutsches Eck ("German Corner") - the tip of land where the Mosel River joints the Rhine - gives it a certain patriotic charm. This spot became truly legendary. I was truly impressed at the power of this place, and an unfathomable source of pride seized me. For many Germans, this spot stirs their nationalistic spirit and they come here to feel good about their country while enjoying the organ grinders and buskers playing accordions in this park-like atmosphere. And in fact, this place can be named German Pride Corner. Must see it in Koblenz!! See more..

Castles
This is one of the most beautiful castles that I've seen in Germany. Hike to the castle takes about an hour from Moselkern. And it was not a difficult hike. You need to pay to enter the museum which includes a guided tour; the price is reduced for students. The German guided tour starts every 5 mins or so. There's also an English tour. When we visited, we had to wait for 20 mins before the English tour starts. It started at 12 noon. See more..

- 4.5 Ehrenbreitstein Fortress (1.440 reviews)
-A good history lesson
Historic Sites
This visit was a very good one since our guide was an actor who took the role of an inspector during the construction of the fortress. He was excellent and got the group involved in playing various roles. Truly a unique approach to giving a guided tour. Since our tour was scheduled for late in the afternoon, the sun went down and we were able to view the city at night from the hill. We also learned that this fortress was never used. See more..

-Make A Detour to a Special Place
Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Speciality Museums
On recommendation from a friend, we made a special detour of our trip along the Rhine to visit this museum. On first impression, it was very impressive with the outdoor exhibits of jets, trains and a submarine that were invitingly set up to climb aboard and explore. There are several buildings to investigate with every category of vehicle you could ever imagine on display in a well represented fashion. We only gave ourselves 2 hours to see it all, as we thought that should be enough, but it was a whirlwind tour and it became clear you could spend days there reading everything there was available to read about each vehicle. We bought the companion book that has the information of each important vehicle there to read later. There is also a second location, 10 minutes away by car, where even more vehicles can be found! Before we left we bought a t-shirt and ate well at the large café. I have recommended the Speyer Museum to friends and family since our visit and hope to someday return. See more..
- 4.5 Speyer Cathedral (1.182 reviews)
-Impressive Romanesque Cathedral in Speyer
Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings • Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
The cathedral St. Mary and St. Stephen in Speyer is church that is unique in its spiritual, architectural, and historical dimensions. Day for day this house of God, founded in the 11th century, casts its spell on people, serves as a site of contemplation and prayer, and testifies to the legacy of romanesque architecture. Furthermore, the cathedral of Speyer is the gravesite of Salian, Staufer, and Habsburg rulers, thus functioning as a symbol of the medieval emperorship. In 1981, the cathedral was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list. As an episcopal church, the cathedral of Speyer is the spiritual centre of the diocese Speyer. Built in the Middle Ages as a house (Latin: domus) of God, to this very day its entire architecture serves to lead mankind to the Lord: the floor plan, the decoration, and all measurements serve this purpose. As an episcopal cathedral church, as the cathedral's parish church, as a place of pilgrimage: mass is celebrated here every day of the week. See more..

-Wow
Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Castles
The castle is very well maintained. You can't get into the tower and upper quarters since it is inhabited, but there is a lot to see with the rest of it. These are guided tours so you are not going to be able to spend lots of time in places but you are there and able to see a lot and the history you learn of the Castle is interesting. It overlooks the river and has a good view of the valley. There are spots that can be slippery since it is built on the rock and if it is raining it can be treacherous. Not a easy walk if you have disabilities with walking. See more..

I was not sure what to make of this before going, following it I struggle to explain it. 230,000 people over the weekend. Incredibly friendly activity, as much about racing as a social meet up with friends for a week was the statement from many people we met. Brunchen on the Friday night before the race was party central, especially on the track or walking to Hatzenbach at midnight and then through the forest to other areas before rolling into bed at 5am before getting up to see it finish. Magical weekend, very friendly everywhere See more..

-Go early
Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Bridges
Get here early! @eklecticafro and I arrived around 1000 and didn’t have to wait long. We had time to take pictures and enjoy the view. On the way back we walked across the bridge (you can take a 5.7 km hike down and up a mountain if you want to). The way back we had to wait. By the time we crossed back (around 1230) the line was so long we could not see the end of it. Truly the early bird gets the best views. They alternate traffic so be prepared to wait in line if you arrive late. See more..

- 4.5 Liebfrauenkirche, Trier (522 reviews)
-Next door to Dom Trier
Religious Sites
This church feels like 'the little sister' next to St. Peter's Dom Trier. Built in early 13th century, it’s one of the earliest Gothic churches in the world. Built entirely on Roman foundation. It has some 15th century wall paintings. Stained glass is a recent add. Church layout is Greek Cross. Burial place of archbishops as far back as 1581. Under this church are numerous excavations not open to the public, however, one area has glass with a railing around it so you can look down in the dig area. See more..
- 4.5 Rheinfels Castle (506 reviews)
-A fun and informative visit with beautiful views

We really enjoyed walking around this castle ruin. There is a small museum inside that provides excellent information on the the history of the castle and surrounding area. The brochure takes you on a guided walk around the castle. They have a few guided tours during the day but we preferred just wandering around on our own. See more..
- 4.5 Sesselbahn in Boppard (468 reviews)
-Fantastic views
Taxis & Shuttles
Super recommend this excursion. EUR 9,50 per adult and EUR 5,00 for children below 14 years of age. Beware of vertigo for the faint hearted. Chairs are open. Views during the 20 minute ride up and down are spectacular. Did the rides on a sunny and calm day and were fully compensated! See more..
- 4.5 Mittelalterlicher Marktplatz (468 reviews)
-Fairytale town
Historic Sites
The small town of Bernkastel on the banks of the Moselle seems fabulous. Its main attraction is the amazing half-timbered houses that look like toys. Perhaps the most beautiful place in the city is Marktplatz, i.e. trading area. Here, each house has its own unique face and history. One of the most beautiful buildings is the Town Hall or Rathaus. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of shops and boutiques, souvenir and wine shops with famous Mosel wine, in this relatively small town. My husband and I thought that we would spend no more than two hours here, but we stayed for 4 hours to not only see the town, but also shop and try a dessert in a famous "konditorei " Cafe Hansen on the market square. One of the main attractions of the square (and the most photographed place in the town) "Crooked House", on the right if you are looking at the Town Hall. Don't miss! Enjoy!! See more..

- 4.5 Dom zu Worms (372 reviews)
-Stunning!
Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
Lots of gorgeous art in this humongous church! So much history!! In 1016, Burchard of Worms built a Romanesque cathedral was built on the site. Parts of that cathedral still survive. Incredibly, this current, existing Dom St. Peter’s was built in sections from 1125 – 1181. Powerful events happened in this cathedral: The Concordat of Worms (1122), the marriage of Emperor Frederick II to Isabella of England (1235) and the Diet of Worms (1521) and this is where Martin Luther was condemned as a heretic. Salian princes were buried in the crypt (which you can walk around in) in the first half of the 11th century. A Baroque, gilded wood and marble, high altar by Balthasar Neumann was added to the cathedral in the 18th century. The north aisle contains five ‘Gothic tympana’ stone relief scenes, created in 1488 and 1515. The carving of these scenes is just an incredible sight to see. See more..
- 4.5 KD Köln-Düsseldorfer (319 reviews)
-Nice relaxing boat ride on the Rhine
Boat Tours
Followed advice and did the Rhine boat tour from Bacharach to St Goar. We sat outside and it was a lovely day. We didn’t get off at St Goar just stayed on the boat ride as our goal was just to do a Rhine cruise. They offer food and drink service so enjoyed a glass of wine. If you are looking for more cruise options don’t wait to get to Bacharach to do it as there are only this boat company and one other one so times and options limited but if planning on staying in Bacharach it’s very nice because it’s a very small town and not much to do. - 4.5 Burg Nanstein (315 reviews)
-Impressive
Historic Sites
My first walk up the hill to the castle wearing jeans in August was a bit warm, to put it mildly. On subsequent trips I wore shorts and had a much time. The castle grounds provides an excellent view of the city below and there is a small cafe where you can buy lunch and refreshments with outdoor seating. There is a small entrance fee to enter the castle proper, about $4.00 US. Once inside you are free to explore from top to bottom. The castle is centuries old and it obvious it has been under reconstruction various times during it's history. Adults are likely to appreciate the beautiful views and historical information, while children will certainly enjoy exploring all of the nooks and crannies. See more..
