Charming town of Cochem. Give yourself more time to check out the town and perhaps go on a river boat. Or go with a double seat gondola almost to the top of mountain. There is a fee for the gondola. Great views of the valley. Possibility to trek around the mountain and down the hill on your own. Awesome wine tasting opportunities. One at a restaurant Zum Kapuziner by the st Martin's church. Excellent castle tour with knowledgeable guide, takes about 2 hours one with guide, and some time to wander around on your own. It is OK to take photos inside even with a flash. Entry fee 5 Euro per adult. Some discount for families and groups, tickets purchase in a small store/restaurant in the castle. See more..

Last year togehther with my boyfriend we took the bike road from Saarbrucken, along the Saar River, which took us one day. Two other days of our trip we're riding along the Mosel River. This bike route is full of amzing landscapes and cosy vineyards where you can buy some local wine sorts. The most of the time you follow the Mosel Radweg signs which lead you to the city of Koblenz where the Mosel River eventually flows into the Rhine River. In three days we rode around 340km. We slept on camp sites. There are many of them which are just in the way and very close to the river, so i wasn't a problem at all to finde any of them even spontanously. See more..
  3. 4.0 Lahn Radweg (22 reviews)
    - Great Bike Tour
    Biking Trails
    Lahn Radweg image
The path along the River Lahn - we biked from Marburg to Lahnstein and Koblenz - is well sign posted and maintained. During the four-day weekend we did our tour, some parts around the cities were somewhat crowded, and even on the more remote segments there's always another group of bikers, some of them quite big, around. the trail is generally flat, except between Balduinstein and Obernhof: 3km of steep uphill, which we (and several others) avoided by taking a 5 minute train ride for 2.90 Euros (money well spent). That still leaves you with several challenging climbs, so don't feel bad about skipping one part. Given the large number of bikers on sunny weekends, I'd suggest booking your accommodation in advance. See more..
