Stefan's Wine and Christmas Paradise Stefan opened his shop, in St. Goar in the middle of the World heritage `Mittelrhein`, over 20 years ago. He is offering delecius Wines and Brandys made from his family. The first and still the most famous Brandy Stefan's family is producing is the peach Brandy. Made out of red peaches which are growing in the vineyards. Whenever you are entering the shop you will be offered a taste of it.: Be careful this Brandy make costumers return from all over the world. Today the variety of Stefan's Brandys got much bigger. The Menu offers something for every taste: from the famous peach Brandy to Blackberry Brandy, from different chocolate Brandys to winter apple brandy even a whisky or a cognac. And not to forget the Queen of the German wines 'Eiswein'. You will find this seldom wine as well in Stefan's shop. Eiswein must be produced from grapes that have been frozen while still on the vine. The sugar and other dissolved solids do not freeze, but the water does, allowing a more concentrated grape. With Eiswein, the freezing happens before the fermentation, not afterwards. Only healthy grapes keep in good shape until the opportunity arises for an Eiswein harvest, which in extreme cases can occur after the New Year, on a northern hemisphere calendar. This gives Eiswein its characteristic refreshing sweetness balanced by high acidity. Eiswein production is risky (the frost may not come at all before the grapes rot or are otherwise lost) and requires the availability of a large enough labor force to pick the whole crop within a few hours, at a moment's notice, on the first morning that is cold enough. This results in relatively small amounts of Eiswein being made world-wide, making Eiswein generally quite expensive. You have some time in St. Goar come in and enjoy a free wine and Brandy tasting. Good size room and location. A newish bathroom and well equipped kitchen. However, the bed is in a loft with narrow creaky stairs and would not suit anyone with small children or a mobility impairment. The bed is relatively small and uncomfortable. You cannot stand upright because of the ceiling height and you can only get into the bed from one side ie you have to climb over your partner.. There is a lot of traffic noise throughout the day and night. Unlike other places where we have stayed the owners made absolutely no effort to make us feel welcome and were not at all helpful. Spent about an hour having Jobelius owners explain and allowing us to taste some of their products. We were the on English speakers and the owners wife made a special trip from their home to the store to explain to us in English the spirits they have. They were friendly, cordial and not pushy at all in regards to explaining and selling their products and the best part it was for free. Definitely stop and Definitely support this little Distillery. We visited in May as part of a 'Personal Wine tour' from Frankfurt and tried (and bought) some very nice reds. I stopped into this shop while I was in the area for the Wurstmarkt. The place is ok, but is better suited for wine lovers. There are a multitude of wines on display in the shop, all available for purchase. There are a few wine-themed gift items available for purchase, such as a mini wine bottle with a book. I ended up purchasing a wine-bottle birthday card which features a wine bottle on the front (along with the year of birth) along with some important historical facts that occurred within the given year on the inside. (The inside is written in German.) The shop is OK, but I am not a wine lover. I do think, however, wine lovers will appreciate and like what is sold here. See more..

Ingelheim has more than 20 vinemakers and privately operated Weingut Neus is one of the top three in the "Rotweinstadt" (red wine village). Although it is famous for some nice red wines, my favourites are the sparkling wines which are produced here. If you arer lucky enough visiting the Weingut on occasion of an event, e.g. the "Rotweinfest" (festival of the red wine, to be held end of September), you can enjoy the really pittoresque court and taste the wine together with some typical regional food and music. Absolutely wonderful! The wines are €1 per tasting glass. One of the owners led us through a wonderful tasting of 9 wines. You can choose which wines you want to taste but we let him guide us. We enjoyed every wine that we tried, as well as the brandy and trester. I would highly recommend a stop here to anyone traveling to the area. We went to big towns and little towns all over SW Germany. I had it in my mind I was going to buy a real cuckoo clock. My grandparents had one in their house when I grew up. So, we went into shop after shop, store, after store. I had a list going, we came back to this shop. Easily the BEST! The prices were better than anywhere else. The lady behind the counter was so kind, I felt like she was family! There are legit, real, handmade cuckoo clocks here of all types. We settled in the upper middle price range with a 650€ clock. They packed it and shipped it at this price. You get to take instructions and certificate home right away. There were so many to choose from, we bought lots of other German made items in here too - a nutcracker and souvenirs for people. Lots of inventory. De kamers zijn met zorg en detail ingericht. De familiekamer had een tweepersoonsbed, en een sofa voor een eventuele derde persoon, of 2 kleine kinderen. Best jammer, want de kamer is voldoende groot om een normaal bed te plaatsen. De badkamer is klein in oppervlakte, maar mooi en recent. Alles is ook aanwezig: zachte handdoeken, haardroger, handzeep... Pluspunt is de vloer op de kamer en de rolluiken. De uitbaters zijn zeer vriendelijk en nodigen je uit om een degustatie van hun wijnen. Het ontbijt bestaat uit een gevarieerd buffet, zeer voldoende en bijgevuld en voorzien van eigen streekproductjes (jam en gelei van druiven en wijnen). See more..

Manderscheid ist immer einen Ausflug wert. Bei der Planung sollte man einen Dienstag oder Donnerstag wählen, denn jeweils um 11 Uhr kann man kostenlos die Werkstatt besichtigen.
Der Inhaber erklärt kompetent, anschaulich, humorvoll auf sympathische Weise alles über die Herstellung von Kerzen und die Materialien. Wer will kann selbst eine Kerze herstellen. Ab Kindergartenalter bis zur Oma waren alle mit Begeisterung dabei, vergnüglich auch für die "Nur-Zuschauer". Selbst kleinste Kinder waren aufmerksam "bei der Sache". Kamera nicht vergessen!
Vor uns war bei einem Extra-Termin eine Schulklasse (ca. 13 Jahre alt). Vermutlich sieht man selten eine Klasse so begeistert.
Parken kann man auf den wenigen Flächen in der Kurfürstenstraße oder ganz bequem auf einem Parkplatz in der Klosterstraße. Von dort sind es nur wenige Gehminuten. See more..

Leider wurden bestellte und bereits bezahlte Reitstiefel über Monate ( Dez.bis April) nicht geliefert. Immer wieder nur dumme Ausreden . Am Ende wurde dann ein völlig falscher Stiefel einer anderen Marke, der nicht annähernd passte, geliefert. Irgendwann hat es dann gereicht, haben zwar das Geld zurück bekommen, sind aber auf den Rücksendekosten sitzen geblieben. Das war ein Satz mit X und hat starke Nerven vorausgesetzt. See more..

Went to see a friend in Rodalben and wandered upon this great place. Beautiful selection of really nice lightweight comfy hiking shoes. Top that off with a huge selection of leather handbags, cute socks, belts and what looks like custom made belt buckles and things.....really cool handmade stuff. Really friendly employees. Im September waren wir über das Wochenende mit der Familie im Weingut Dautermann zur Übernachtung. Das Weingut ist sehr zentral gelegen und Parkplätze gibt es in der Umgebung genügend, einfach fragen. Die Zimmer waren sehr sauber und sehr groß. Auf dem Flur kann man Getränke aus dem Kühlschrank oder von einem Tisch nehmen, es gibt eine Vertrauenskasse. Natürlich ist es auch möglich, Wein zu bestellen, der Betrieb läuft nebenan und es gibt einen Verkaufsraum.
Das Frühstück wird in einem separaten Raum über den Hof serviert und ist reichhaltig und sehr gut. Man kann bei speziellen Wünschen nachfragen.
Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen, Frau Dautermann war sehr freundlich und hat alle Wünsche erfüllt. Das Weingut ist für eine preiswerte Übernachtung zu empfehlen. Ein Hinweis: Die Zimmer liegen im 1. Stock und sind nur über eine Treppe zu erreichen. Für gehbehinderte Menschen ist es weniger oder gar nicht geeignet. See more..

De 'Schloss-Schmiede' in Herrstein is een bijzondere attractie. Op de begane grond van een oud vakwerkhuis is de smidse te vinden. Met een beetje geluk zie je de smid aan het werk. Hij maakt traditionele messen, sikkels en ander werktuig.
Op de eerste verdieping is een tentoonstellingsruimte. Daar vind je een indrukwekkende collectie die door de smid is geproduceerd. De smid vertelt heel interessant over zijn vak, de technieken en de geschiedenis van de smederij. Er gaat opeens een oude wereld voor je open. De smid heeft ook Japanse zwaarden gemaakt. Ook deze zwaarden zijn hier te zien.
De Schloss-Schmiede is een mooie aanwinst voor het mooie dorpje Herrstein. Hier komt het verleden tot leven. See more..
