The cemetery does not appear as popular as other attractions, but it is just as moving. The entrance is gated, but appears like it may be a personal residence. You go past the home to another small gate to enter the cemetery. There are German and English history placards to your right as you enter the outside gate. Quite moving as you consider the Jewish history in Worms.See more..
My family (Wolf) lived in Mertloch from at least the middle of the 18th century and I visited the village and the graveyard about 8 years ago. Several of my family members are buried there (and also incidentally there is a 'Wolf' on the list of the fallen from the 1st world war. I found visiting very poignant, seeing the old graves where it is difficult or impossible to read the names up to the 1930s : and then nothing. That by itself is a moving war memorial.See more..

It is located just out of the city centre (parking available). It is not big but worth while as some of the headstones are really old: Five basalt tomb crosses: 1720, 1632, 1593, 1661and 1646, five neo-Gothic tomb stones of which four signed 1855 and one signed 1862, obelisk 1834, gravestone 1822, neo-Gothic crucifix 1862, two grave crosses of which one signed 1619, cross 1800, neo-Gothic building mid 19th century and five priest graves. The chapel is a small protestant church.See more..
In memory of victims of WW II, 1463 victims are burried overhere, in the vicinity of the rampage of Klause Kastel, behind the John the Baptist Church. In addition stands the large cross on a plateau where one can enjoy the panorama over the Valley of the Saar and klause Kastel.See more..
It does not take long walking through this old graveyard with all kinds of old tombstones. It's set up like a small park nowadays. I strolled around here at the end of November, during a misty day, which gives this place a particular vibe.See more..
4.0Judischer Friedhof(2 reviews) - Don't forget pick up the key at visitors center Spent 1-2 hours Cemeteries
When I left Bernkastle-Kues just behind the Graacher Tor I noticed the sign pointing to Jewish cemetery, got curious about it and decided to visit it. It is not really close to the town but the walk through the vineyards with the view to the Mosel valley is an amazing experience. The cemetery is very small, there are just about thirty gravestones, but charming. Unfortunately I didn't know that it is locked and the key has to be picked up at visitors center in the downtown, so I could only watch over the fence. Yet I am glad I made it there.See more..
See more..
