We visited this tasting experience whilst on a River Cruise. Having done many wine tasting, this was the first time we did Vinegar tasting! Before we went downstairs to the cellar we all had to put on what looked like monks habits. This was said to keep the smell of the vinegar off our clothes. We had a very interesting and informative talk how the secret recipe had been handed down through the ages. We tasted five different vinegars, each of different sweetness. All our group thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. See more..

Our demand for extraordinary quality is the main principle of our work and the style of VON WINNING. In respectful cooperation with nature we do accompany our wines from pruning the vines to the final bottle and revive long forgotten traditions on the way. Lively, fine and full of character, racy and full of tension – our wines can age wonderfully for many years, but offer a lot in their youth already. Since VON WINNING Winery was founded in 1849, unique wines reflecting our vineyards in Ruppertsberg, Deidesheim, and Forst have been produced in our historic cellar. In 1907, Leopold von Winning, son-in-law of Dr. Andreas Deinhard, dedicated his life to creating top quality wines with respect to the outstanding vineyards in which he was allowed to work. As a founding member of the VDP he introduced his believes into the philosophy of this renowned association. Today we – the young and ambitious team around Stephan Attmann – deliberately uphold this visionary’s tradition. See more..
  5. 4.0 Weingut Anselmann (60 reviews)
    - A must visit along the Deutsche Weinstrasse (German Wine Road)

    Weingut Anselmann image
Anselmann has been a favorite of mine since moving to this region of Germany. The wine selection is great, and the restaurant has some fantastic food. My wife and I stopped by Anselmann after visiting the Hambocher Schloss this past weekend. I got the special of the day which was stuffed peppers, salt potato's, soup, and salad while my wife ordered flammenkuchen. We both enjoyed our meals along with a nice glass of wine. Afterwards we went over to the wine tasting area where we tasted several of the Anselmann selections, and purchased some of them. They have great white, reds, and a couple of rose wines. My favorites include their Merlot Weißherbst, Dornfelder trocken, and their Cabernet Franc. My wife's favorite is the Anselmann Merlot, and she loves the others that I have listed to. We tend to enjoy the trocken (dry) wines, but Anselmann also has many sweet wines, dessert wines, and schnapps. I would recommend Weingut Anselmann to anyone traveling along the Deutsche Weinstrasse. - Marvoulous play to stay

Weingut Georg Fritz von Nell image
We used the motorhome stellplatz for a two night stay. Previously we had used the large motorhome parking near the park and ride but this was so much nicer and very peaceful. An easy walk into town with regular buses too. We partook of the wine tasting and a meal on the second night but missed out on the tour due to a bit of a communication breakdown. The wine was fabulous and the guide very informative and friendly - accomodating our lack of German well. The meal was wonderful - we had potato soup with home smoked fish and it was faboulous, followed by the speciallty pork. The cost of the wine tasting is around 10E per head, the meal around 20E for two course plus coffee and the motorhome camp 10E a night. All in all we spent 130E for two night stay, lovely meal for three and 2 bottles of Sek and 3 bottles of wine, pretty good when compared to an avverage campsite in UK! The hosts were so friendly too See more..

We cannot thank Markus enough for the brilliant wine tasting at Dr Loosen. The wine tasting involved lots of explanation of the wines, the vines, growing, slate and soil and history, amongst many other things. We tried many wines and were able to buy some of the wines we tasted to take home. Markus was very knowledgeable and we would highly recommend arranging a tasting here if you come here and love Mosel or Riesling wines. You do have to book in advance but send an email through their website. The Dr Loosen wines are excellent. See more..

    - Some of the best Riesling wines I've tasted
    Wineries & Vineyards
    Weingut Dr. Pauly-Bergweiler image
Our Viking cruise started us on the Mosel River with several stops to enjoy the villages and their local wines. Quite good. But when we finished walking the cobblestone streets of Bernkastel, we went for a wine tasting at Dr. Heidemanns Bergweiler winery. I realize everyone's taste is their own and what is good to one person may not be for another. Our entire group of 30 loved all of the offerings at Dr. Pauly's. My wife especially enjoyed the 2014 Wehlener Klosterberg Riesling Spatlese. Very much worth the visit, and you can purchase their offerings at a very reasonable price. NOTE: They will give you a 10% discount card for their wines when you return home and purchase locally. See more..

This was a great base to explore the Mosel and we would happily stay there again. Tried the wines (of course) and brought some back to the UK and as I sit here writing this review about 3 weeks later the wines still taste very nice indeed! Finally a shout out to Michael who was very helpful and took great care of us. See more..

    Winery Walter J. Oster image
Our first time visiting the Mosel area we were a bit overwhelmed with the choices for wine tasting. We’d done a little research prior to the visit and this wine and tasting was one we really wanted to do. We weren’t sure about reservations so we sent an email expressing our desire to experience their wines! We found they don’t typically do tastings for more than 8 specially during this high season and tour boats bringing people. They enjoyed our email request and spontaneous request and got us in! Our host did a great job even with having to help other guests coming into the shop! And we knew that would be the case but he still provided great information and we tasted a bit of everything even red wine and it was good! Even if you can’t get a tasting appointment you can come in buy a glass of wine and enjoy it on there patio! Worth a visit for sure. See more..

    Weingut Walter J. Oster image
We stopped here during a bicycle trip along the Mosel and Rhine Rivers. AT first I thought this would be just another tourist trap, but I was wrong. In addition to the many wines, apparently they make their own peach wine, there are hundreds of liquors. I am drinking as I write this the cappuccino liquor with iced coffee.YUM! Better than Godiva or any other coffee flavored liqueur available in the US.I also purchased a sampler of other liqueurs to be given as gifts to those back home, but I couldn't bring myself to part with them and so consumed them myself. I just wished these fine alcoholic beverages were available here in the US. The sales people there were very patient and helpful and if I could have brought more home with me on the plane I would have. Don't miss a side trip to WaJo (as they call it) while anywhere near Cochem! See more..

:-) See more..

We find it especially important to produce wines which develop their naturally given character, making them one of a kind. Our wines do not taste the same year after year, which offers them a continually fresh perspective. In our opinion, ecological cultivation is a requirement for growing healthy, high quality grapes, giving rise to a diversity of flora and fauna in our vineyards. It is our aim to serve you wines full of character, which represent the impressively diverse features of our region; always distinctive but with a unique taste. As a family business we guarantee our customers authentic wines with “Lebensgefuhl”/a good attitude towards life. See more..

Historical wine cellar Sankt Aldegund image
We found this place because there's a Geocache hidden on the property outside. When we were there it was 8PM so the Wine Cellar was closed, but we decided to go back on a rainy morning. What an amazing place! Beautiful on the inside, with lots of antique wine making machinery and lots of different wines and liquors to choose from. When you walk all the way to the back there's a small side door with a sign that says "Antiques" and when you go in there you walk into antique's heaven! A huge barn filled with antiques; clocks, tables, chairs, china cabinets, old toys, paintings, etcetera. We wanted to buy some wine and were helped by a friendly employee who let us taste various types. We ended up buying them all. Our daughter got to taste her own "wine", grape juice, which we ended up buying as well. It's truly an amazing place where you can easily spend a few hours browsing all the interesting wines and antiques! See more..
