We were driving from Luxembourg to Cologne, and we wanted to drive up the middle Rhine valley. We had been told that the drive up the east side of the river was a better view so the ferry made good sense for crossing the river (there is no bridge for many km in either direction). The Wife and I were strolling along the river walk and noticed that the tour was preparing to depart and impulsively got tickets. Thankfully they serve food on board, so we started with the Black Forest Cake and progressed to the Flammekueche. Even though the trip didn't have a tour guide, and we had to rely upon a rather minimalist tour brochure, we also enjoyed just relaxing and watching the scenery go by. See more..

Die Fähre von Bad Münster am Stein ist eine handgezogene Fähre über das schöne Flüsschen Nahe direkt neben dem Rheingrafenstein, dem 136 m hohen Porphyrfelsen, der dem kleinen Kurstädchen seinen Namenszusatz bescherte. Gut gelaunt und sehr nett trotz der aktuellen Krisenzeit bringt der Betreiber "HaJo" für nen Euro die Leute ans andere Naheufer, ins schöne Huttental ("Tal" ist schön gesagt, es geht sofort steil aufwärts). Hier stehen einige kleine Gebäude, es gibt eine kleine Austellung mit Märchenfiguren zu bestaunen und Wanderwege führen nach oben.
