-New adventure hike

Just got to a germany and wanted to go site seeing. This hike was easy to find and the hike itself was easy. The rock formations were amazing, and we definatly are going to come back. So many trails there for mountain biking hiking, running etc. walk far enough and you will end up in France. The rock formations look like something you would see in Arizona. The parking lot is huge and there are lots of camping spots. A must see place. See more..

Geologic Formations
You can catch a short Ferry crossing from Remagen to Erpel then drive up the steep hill to Erpeler Ley view point. When you turn sharp right at the top you will see a small parking area on your right and a sign post saying that it is a 10 minute walk to the View Point. Pay no attention to this because it is a 7 minute walk on the tarmac section followed by 15 minutes on a gravel/dirt track, so just drive slowly straight through to the ample free parking area by the Restaurant where you can enjoy a nice meal served by Staff who thankfully speak a little English which you will need because the menu is in German only. The spacious viewing area over Remagen, Erpel and the Rhine is fabulous with benches scattered around for you to relax and take it all in. Pick your day well because it will need to be warm and very clear to get the best out of this worthwhile visit. Highly recommended. See more..

This is a great place to view the surrounding region. The parking area is large (but probably fills in busy seasons) tho it is a little tricky to find. You will drive past a school/day care ctr. and continue on. The quickest way to the viewing area (Bastei in particular) is to park your car in the large lot, walk across the street, and take the 1/2 km walk to the trail that runs along the Rotenfels proper. To your right is the Bastei; to your left the walkway continues along the top of the cliff. Note: Safety is NOT the priority here; unattended children or fools can easily fall off the cliff. Den Jungfernsprung findet man im Ort Dahn. Es ist ein steiler Felsen, der den Ort um etwa 70 m überragt und oben ein Gipfelkreuz trägt. Der Fels ist das Wahrzeichen der Stadt und zudem Bestandteil einer alten lokalen Sage. Man kann direkt am Fuße des Jungernsprunges parken und über einen gut ausgeschilderten, manchmal auch etwas steilen Weg in recht kurzer Zeit die Felsnase erreichen. Von dort hat man einen schönen Blick über Dahn und die umliegenden Wälder.
Und hier noch etwas zur Sage: Einst wollte eine Jungfrau im Wald Beeren pflücken. Plötzlich erschien ein Raubritter, um ihr die Unschuld zu rauben. Sie lief ihm davon. In ihrer Panik nahm sie jedoch den falschen Weg, an dessen Ende sie vor einem tiefen Abgrund stand. Um sich zu retten, sprang sie hinunter– und das Wunder geschah: Ihre Röcke bauschten sich auf und sie schwebte zu Boden. Unverletzt kam sie unten an. Und dort, wo ihr Fuß den Boden berührte, sprudelt seitdem der Sage nach eine Quelle – der Jungfernsprung. See more..

It was a beautiful hike with great trails. The trails were well maintained and clearly marked (except 1 place). Great for moderate hiking and trail running. The autumn colors were fantastic. Suggestions: 1. Wear big spray with deet. There weren’t any mosquitos but I was afraid of ticks. 2. Wear bright clothing. There were a good number of hunting blinds. 3. Park at Parkplatz Bierkeller. The first time I used the google maps to take me to the park and it went to the general are and service road. There isn’t a sign that says “here’s the park”. I had to read reviews to find the trailhead. I would definitely recommend. See more..

Wer in der Gegend wohnt kann sich das mal anschauen von Erzenhausen aus muss man etwa 10 Minuten bergauf gehen und dann ist es auch ausgeschildert oder man kann einheimische Fragen die helfen einem bestimmt weiter.
Die Tropfsteinhöhle an sich hat mich schon positiv überrascht. Man konnte bis zu 20 Meter hinein gehen und besonders im Sommer ist es mal eine kühle Abwechslung. Im Winter das heißt ab etwa Oktober wird die Tropfsteinhöhle geschlossen da sich dort Fledermäuse aufhalten. See more..
