-NIght Watchman Tour is a Must Do Local Institution
Night Tours
This tour is an institution and a must do when in Rothenburg in the evening. The whole family enjoyed it, including my college kids. The English tour starts at 8pm in the main square, you can't miss it. Just join the crowd gathering and look for the night watchman who walks up in period costume. It's not the most in depth tour, but it's a charming and humorous introduction to the town of Rothenburg and its history. Following the tour is not strenuous but more of a leisurely walk with plenty of stops. Tour takes about an hour. Happens nightly, no reservations necessary, you pay in cash at the end. The requested fee was 9 Euro in summer of 2022. Crowds tend to be large, so I would recommend you make an effort to stay in front of the pack, close to the watchman to hear better. See more..
- 5.0 FLY ROYAL Paragliding (321 reviews)
-Flying SO high over Neuschwanstein Castle!
Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Parasailing & Paragliding • Adrenaline & Extreme Tours
My wife got the two of us a flight as a birthday gift. Totally unexpected and so amazing! I was teamed with Dennis and my wife flew with Tim. We reserved the royal package they offered and the add-on photos, which are a must buy. The whole experience includes the ride up the cable car, a few minutes checking out the views from the runway area, a safe overview and practice run, and lastly the amazing take off. We then climbed above 2000 meters before gliding over the castle, lake, and almost out to Fussen, landing about 45 minutes after take off. There were a few amazing flight tricks thrown in for good measure, but the guides are very responsive to your individual needs. Overall stunningly beautiful and super fun. See more..

The level of service that we received from Astrid Baur and European Castle Tours was extraordinary. Our tour guide, Barbara, was equally warm, gracious and knowledgeable. We feel so lucky to have booked with them! See more..

We had a wonderful experience with Duc. Duc is a great guide and Segway enthusiast. He showed us Augsburg from every angle and gave us a lot of historical information and facts. That was our first experience with Segway. It didn't take us longer than ten minutes of practicing and we were comfortable to ride. This tour definitely exceeded our expectations and I can really recommend it . See more..

- 5.0 FlyTeam (103 reviews)
-Looking forward to doing it again next year
Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Air Tours
In July 2021, while visiting Schloß Neuschwanstein, we went up to Tegelberg and saw lots of paragliders jumping off the mountain - and said: we want to do it too. Yesterday, 18. Sept., we did it too - with Flyteam. What an experience! We met our pilots, Yvonne and Thomas, at the Tegelbergbahnstation at the bottom of the mountain, travelled in a gondel to the top - and jumped! Yvonne (a psychologist) and Thomas (just as good as a psychologist) explained every step so clearly that it felt so natural to jump off a mountain. The flight was breathtaking. Viewing the Schloß Neuschwanstein from above was amazing. Flying together with my partner was one of the most beautiful experiences we've ever had. Thank you Thomas and Yvonne. Next year we'll bring our friends with us for the next flight. See more..

- 4.5 Mount Tegelberg (358 reviews)
-The No Hike Hike on Mount Tegelberg
Mountains
After spending more than a month studying guide books and internet sites about hiking trails on Mount Tegelbeg, I bought my ticket and thought I was set.....wrong. They had a late snow in 2019 and all of the hiking trails were closed when I got there. Bummer. However, I really enjoyed the ride to the top and a look at the snowy vista. It was warm and sunshine down below and cool and crisp on top. You couldn't go any further than the clearing behind the top cable car station and the restaurant was closed that day -- so I made my own fun, shared laughter with others and put this trip back on my bucket list. Moral: you can't control Mother Nature and you need to travel with a sense of humor!! See more..

It was an interesting experience to walk on the historical city walls. There are plenty of other places in Europe with more or less preserved city walls but I think what Nordlingen has is unique. It is almost complete and one can walk around the whole old town on it. Including viewing and exploring several city gates it can easily be a half day trip. See more..

I saw so many churches and cathedrals on my travels that I tend to skip visiting them but this one attracted my attention since I entered the city that I could not resist. -love the umbrella tree
Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Gardens
I was born in Augsburg, Germany in 1965, I have been going there for years and each time I visit I have taken a photo under the umbrella tree (I know it has a more formal name but can't recall it) with my Grandmother, and my Mother. It was so small in the beginning, after a few years they put a chair under it, and as it grew they took the chair out and put a settee under it. I have about 15 photos of this tree as it grew and as our family grew. It is a beautiful garden and is especially lovely in the spring after the snow is gone and the flowers are in full bloom. - 4.5 Alatsee (175 reviews)
-Beautiful lake!
Bodies of Water
Lake Alatsee is situated in a very peaceful area. It is accessible by foot (through woodland trails) or by car. You can walk around the lake in about 25 minutes but if it's a clear day it's worth bringing a picnic to enjoy the peace and tranquillity for a couple of hours. The surrounding scenery is beautiful too, and on a clear day you get a stunning view of the alps! Well worth a visit! See more..
- 4.5 Kirchturm Daniel (164 reviews)
-Well worth the climb!
Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
350 steps, stone to start with, then wooden, getting narrower and narrower. Best not to look up, that put half our party right off, and they headed back down. You pay near the top, which seemed weird to us, worth the cost, there was a loo there! An amazing tower, a hard climb, a great view of the meteorite crater from the top, overall a brilliant experience for adults. ( not suitable for children under 12 or so, I'd say). See more..
