We are new to the RV life. What a way to start at Goose Pond Colony Plantation in Scottsboro, Alabama. It is actually a self contained community. They have apartments, condos, cabins, an amphitheater, golf course,marina, restaurant, pool, playground, tent campsites all the way up to million dollar motor homes. Our RV is on the lake with a pier and our back door looks out over the golf course. Since neither my husband nor I play golf, I cannot give you a review of the golf course other than it is very pretty and well maintained. Trip with 7 golfers from Georgia to play golf at the Lake course. The course was in great shape. We bought the Trail Pass which reduces the rate at all the Robert Trent Jones course by about 50%. We did a golf trip in October 2020 and played all 3 courses. The Judge course was something very special. It covers an impressive amount of land and shaped holes that constantly surprised us. We want to play it again because it was so wild and different. The conditions were great and the course played very well and true. The Senator was the “links” style and slightly boring...especially compared to the other 2. The legislator was my favorite because it was fun and challenging but not as hard as the Judge. It’s easy to play 36 holes in 1 day because everything is on 1 property and all runs out of the same clubhouse. Food there is great and easy. They have a large breakfast menu to enjoy before golf. You can grab and go or sit down and they had a buffet also. And lunch menu was great to take on the course or sit and eat. Large driving range on grass. All pictures attached are on the Judge course. Played Azalea Course while staying across the street at The Grand Hotel. Took advantage of the twilight rate which starts at a generously early time, a very fair price for this course. Greens were in fantastic condition, great pace of play, overall great experience. This course is definitely worth the drive - we drove up from Pensacola (2 hours away). Photos can't do this place justice - you simply can't capture the severity of the beautiful terrain. The course has very few holes that aren't worthy of a fancy golf course postcard or calendar. There are incredible elevation changes on some of the holes - sometimes the cart path feels like a roller coaster; it's constantly up-and-down, through switchbacks, lined with guardrail, etc. The fairways and greens are very well maintained, but the course design is the main highlight of this facility. Don't miss the incredible "short course" at Cambrian Ridge - it's inexpensive, particularly if you add it to your round on the championship nines and it might be the best 9-hole short course you'll ever play.See more..

Enough water to satisfy or frustrate, and not crowded. The hotel is similar to a Motel 6, clean and comfortable beds but no frills. There is an inside mineral pool to take out the kinks of the day and an Olympic sized outdoor pool. The older lower part of the park seems to be for folks that live there. It is heavily treed with lots of shade. The upper newer part (once a golf course) seems to be for transients and folks that want a place seasonally. The mostly level cement spots are off cement access roads with a cement pad for a picnic table. The modern hookups were convenient and functioned properly. No cable tv, but plenty of OTA stations and a big sky for satellite. Their included WiFi never provided a signal that was useful to our site - we were in the middle of the new section, Verizon cell service was good. Know the access road to the park is a not very well maintained gravel road, and the only dumpster is in the older section. A plus is a Passport America discount is good for 3 nights.See more..

There to follow my daughter in a college women's golf tourn, I spent 2 days on this well maintained Jerry Pate-designed course. In addition to rolling hills, tall timbers, and bronze cart path markers, there are RR tracks running thru the course and cart path. These are for the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum, which puts on steam engine demonstrations and gives rides on certain occasions. Because of the course's proximity to I-65, you will get some traffic noise in places. The pro-shop staff was very friendly and helpful. I really appreciated the cart ride to hole 15, where my daughter was teeing off. I did not try the food and I do not golf, but I really enjoyed the beautiful setting and friendly staff.See more..

We played the short course, 9 holes and the regular course in 1 day. It had rained and the carts were on path but with the vistas, made up for my ball being as far away from the path on every hole, my fault, not the course. It was the typical course for the RTJ trail. Huge greens with multiple levels. The greens were in perfect condition. The day was wonderful and just what we expected from the RTJ trail. The golf shop is the same as all the locations. They even have clothes for women. The food in the restaurant is good and again just like all the trail courses. The views are beautiful and the number of tee options makes it fun for all.See more..
