  4. 4.0 Gator Alley Boardwalk (80 reviews)
    - Channeling my inner Steve Irwin
    Spent < 1 hour Piers & Boardwalks
    Gator Alley Boardwalk image
I stopped by Gator Alley Boardwalk on my way to go hiking. I needed to get out and stretch my legs after being in the car for a while. I was excited to see three gators while I was there. One was a little one, maybe a foot and a half long, and he seemed to be a little super model. He swam over and came out of the water and posed for me for about 15 minutes. Then he'd had enough and swam back to the other side of his little area. You are walking basically on the side of the road and under busy highways so there's a lot of noise. It's very easy to get to and worth the quick stop. See more..
  5. 3.5 Wade Ward Nature Park (22 reviews)
    - Nice raised Board Walk
    Saturday: 6:00 AM - 9:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Piers & Boardwalks • Observation Decks & Towers • Scenic Walking Areas
    Wade Ward Nature Park image
Heard that Wade Ward Nature Park can have some birds. Hard place to find parking for, but I figured that the Diner didn't mind an extra vehicle.. Nice raised 1/3 mile round trip board walk over some wet lands and marshes. This afternoon we saw only a couple of Pelicans and some ducks and some small birds that I am still not sure of. If you walk it at a leisurely pace maybe a half hour, so if in the area and can find parking do the walk !!~ See more..

  7. 5.0 Dauphin Island Park And Beach (3 reviews)
    - Amazing Scenery, Great Fishing, A True Hidden Gem on Mobile Bay
Saturday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Piers & Boardwalks
I visit this little hidden gem at least once a month. It has just been restored since the last hurricane, There is no railing yet so small children or folks with impaired balance could take a dangerous unplanned swim if not careful! A salt water fishing license is required. But, I have great luck even if the catch is not 'keeper' sized. A good place for netting blue crabs as well. Live and cut bait works best.Sunsets are amazing here! There is also a nice picnic area right on the water with shelters. Bring folding chairs though as there are just 2 benches available. There is also no restroom facilities nearby. See more..

  9. 4.0 Beeswax Creek Park (1 review)
    - Hidden bit of quiet access to the river
Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Piers & Boardwalks • Scenic Walking Areas
3 public viewing/fishing piers, several pavilions with picnic tables, playground equipment, and restrooms. Public boat launch also available just outside of the park. Long walking trails for birding and nature viewing plus two primitive campsites reachable by canoe. Good for birding and they are planting what looks to be a deer field so that should draw even more wildlife in for easy viewing. See more..
