Gulf State Park's two miles of beaches greet you with plenty of white sun-kissed sand, surging surf, seagulls and sea shells, but there is more than sand and surf to sink your toes into. Inside Gulf State Park there is a brand new Gulf Front lodge and Conference Center, beach pavilion, National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World Cottages, tennis courts, camp sites, 28 miles of paved/enhance trails and a fishing pier that is 20-feet wide and extends 1,512 feet into the Gulf. This and much more make Gulf State Park the perfect in-state vacation or out-of-state adventure. See more..

If you want to pay for parking, people watch, access to toilets and rentals, then go to the public beach. But know that there are other public beaches that are less crowded. We enjoyed the beach with no traffic, no seaweed, and no parking fee, BUT no amenities - on the Ft. Morgan end. The fishing beach a great for walking and shelling, too. See more..
  3. 4.0 Dauphin Island Public Beach (420 reviews)

If you don't mind the long walk to the beach from the parking lot, you will enjoy this beautiful, uncrowded beach. There is a ton of room to spread out along the beach so that you feel like you have your own private space. There are dolphins that swam fairly close, and little fish and sizable crabs that our older kids enjoyed netting in the water. Its. A. Long. Walk. Bring everything you need including an umbrella, a ton of sunscreen, chairs, a cooler, towel, camera, a net (even if ur an adult its fun!) I hear vinegar is good for jelly fish but we did not see or feel any of those while visiting, and whatever else you feel necessary! ENJOY! Suncreen even if ur under an umbrella! See more..

I went here for the first time in several years and was surprised to see the new pier and boardwalk along the water. I used to come here all the time with my dogs to take them to play in the water. It's still a nice spot. See more..

We had 2 babies, 1 four yr old, 1 ten yr old and 2 adults when we went. Everything was clean and the beach was shaded some near the benches. They have a shower where you can spray off all the sand. If you just sat in the water the little fish kept bitting you. Not a big deal really. Just caught us off guard. Restrooms were really far away from beach area. See more..
  7. 4.0 Cotton Bayou Public Beach Access (4 reviews)

Great beach with amazing sand like fine flour and water which was warm most of the days we were here, although a few days brought lots of jelly fish - I have never seen so many of them!!!! They surely kept everybody out of the warm water. This area is simply amazing and you can walk for miles on the beach, reminding me of Clearwater and the other beaches in Florida. Pity the hotels are not top hotels like the ones in Florida, yet the prices are. Also is difficult to find top restaurants, the only exception was Carver's and the usual chain of restaurants, hence had a day trip to Pensacola where there are more varieties in this respect.
