Cambrian Ridge, Alabama, United States

4.5 (50 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Greenville Golf Courses

an incredible golf course experience

This course is definitely worth the drive - we drove up from Pensacola (2 hours away). Photos can't do this place justice - you simply can't capture the severity of the beautiful terrain. The course has very few holes that aren't worthy of a fancy golf course postcard or calendar. There are incredible elevation changes on some of the holes - sometimes the cart path feels like a roller coaster; it's constantly up-and-down, through switchbacks, lined with guardrail, etc. The fairways and greens are very well maintained, but the course design is the main highlight of this facility. Don't miss the incredible "short course" at Cambrian Ridge - it's inexpensive, particularly if you add it to your round on the championship nines and it might be the best 9-hole short course you'll ever play.

Beautiful golf course and great value
Not an easy course by any stretch. Beautiful scenery and rare course that has no houses on it. All-around enjoyable day, and you can't beat the price. Only negative is that the range is not included in the price. You've got to have a "package".

A Scenic Course with a Devilish Bite
Cambrian Ridge is one of the most beautiful courses I have ever played. The views from some of the tee boxes are OUT of THIS WORLD. However, it is not a course where you can just go slap the ball around with your buddies. You need to play smart golf and you need to play the correct tees for your handicap and age. If you believe you have the juice to get it off the tee and in relatively the right spot this course will tell you the truth. This is a golfers golf course. Par or bogey on some holes will be the equivalent of birdie on other courses. Play smart, remind yourself, "I'm not Jordan, Dustin or Tiger in the 2000's". Playing smart golf is apart of playing golf. Often you will find that laying up for a 100 or less yard pitch is the best thing to do - even if you are 180/200 out - because they really protect their greens. If you can hit a 3 wood and wedge well you'll do just fine. Most courses are simple plays where you can go every weekend and not think much about hitting the ball. Cambrian is not one of those courses. They should not dumb it down to be like other weekend tracks. On most holes the smart play is not driver off the tee. Enjoy this gem!
