Great Golf

Played last week and had a great time. Beautiful course, friendly Starter, and lots of challenging holes. Be sure to play the appropriate tees as this course can be LONG. Hope to return. If you live in Ala. or within 100 miles of any of the RTJ Trail courses and plan to play more than once, BUY THE TRAIL CARD! It more than pays for itself after just 1 round.

    The Schoolmaster course
Great course and very friendly staff. We arrived about 1 hour before our tee time and they allowed us to go right on while keeping our afternoon rate the same. Course was in great shape and fun to play, greens were lightning fast and the best part we were not rushed or had to wait on others. We will definately be playing here again on our trip south.

    Job Well Done! Kudos!! Bravo!!
We decided last minute to take a weekend trip to The Shoals Golf Club. And we are so glad we made the four hour trip. We played Fighting Joe on a Saturday afternoon and the course was packed out as we learned that the Resort Marriott was booked for the weekend and the course was hosting a wedding on Saturday night. Fighting Joe was in immaculate condition. The tee boxes and fairways pristine. The greens were perfect as well minus ball marks that is player responsibility; please repair all ball marks! The course has a lot of subtle undulation and while it is not a true Links course, there are not many obstructions or trees. There is a lot of subtle water hazards and requirement to hit some spots due to such hazards. This is an extremely fair test of golf as most fairways are very wide even though you cannot always see such width from the tee box. The front nine is a little harder but all picturesque! The back nine finishes with a shorter par five (17) and a par three (18). While I do not like ending on a par three, I have to admit it is an awesome couple of finishing holes with beauty to go with risk/reward. Fighting Joe is one of the top five courses on the whole trail in my opinion. We also played Schoolmaster the next day and was third group out and never waited at all. Schoolmaster was awesome as well. It has a different feel as it is lined by trees with a lot less water. It was in fantastic condition as well minus two greens that have obviously had some issues with 18 being one of them. Also, Schoolmaster had several elevation changes hitting up to some greens and hitting down to some others. These two course are fantastic compliments of each other and offer contrast to be one of the better venues on the RTJ Trail. The service from check in to starter to different cart girls to servers in the restaurant are perfection and all offered wonderful customer service and hospitality. They were all kind, warm, and all offering a kind word to make your day better. And they all did it with a smile. I cannot remember one person that worked at The Shoals Golf Club that did not have a smile. The restaurant was good as well as all of our food came out nicely and the coffee was good too. What a wonderful weekend! And thank you!! Enjoy The Shoals Golf Club, one of the top three venues on the RTJ Trail!! Bravo!!!
