    Dinner with friends
Dinner at Steelwood was a delightful dining experience. We began by the patio fire as the sun set over Steelwood Lake. Then we moved inside for an intimate dinner with flavorful food, flavored to perfection, and paired with perfect wine. Service was personable but not intrusive. A lovely evening!

    Jewel of Southern Alabama
I moved to Southern Alabama about 18 months ago after being laid off from my job as a computer engineer. The company I worked for told me I could still keep my position but I would have to move back to the Washington DC metropolitan area, this was something we could not afford to do. So, the alternative was to move in with my in-laws in South Alabama. Shortly after moving here I started my job search. I soon found out that there is an extremely limited amount computer engineering and network security engineering jobs in the Mobile metropolitan area. In the midst of my job search I knew I couldn't just sit around until I found the perfect Information Technology job. So I begin my alternative job search, looking for anything that would pay me a reasonable rate while trying to find the perfect I.T. job. I started my search on Craigslist it was the beginning of the spring of 2015 and there were 10 to 15 different golf courses that we're hiring. Steelwood Country Club was the only one that offered paid holidays, paid vacation sick days and health benefits not to mention they also paid $2 an hour more than any other golf course that was hiring in the area. I responded to the job listing and 2 Days Later I received the call to come in for an interview. I met with the golf course superintendent and told him I had absolutely no experience whatsoever and that this was a sort of placeholder job until I found a job in the field for which I have a degree. I saw no sense in lying to the man just to get the job. Now I served in the US Army for 10 years and I have lived all over the United States and all over the world. Everytime I move to a new place one of the first things I did was to try out a number of the local golf courses. Now, for all the golf I have played over the years, I had no clue how much actually went into the upkeep and maintenance of a golf course. let me just say that steelwood Country Club is a place that puts extreme care and dedication to the upkeep and beautification of their course. The people that work at this golf course are extremely dedicated and take pride in the work they do and they receive enjoyment and satisfaction from keeping a perfectly maintained and manicured course. Now, all of this being said, one of the best benefits this place offered was the employees got to play the course for free. Let me tell you this course is incredible! Not only in its beauty but in its play. Words can't really describe it, it's something you have to be there for. So if you ever get the chance if you have the money and if you have the time and I say the time because you're going to want to spend an entire day, weekend, week or maybe even a month once you see how beautiful this course is and how many other amenities the country club itself offers. From Cabin Rentals to home rentals a variety of swimming pools, fishing, skeet shooting, boating and an award-winning chef and a beautiful Country Club and pro shop. Now, I no longer work for steelwood. I finally found a job in information technology at a Aerospace company here in South Alabama. But Let me just say if you decide to take a trip to the beaches of South Alabama give this place a try, you will not be sorry. It's fun for yourself. It's also a great couples retreat! It's fun for the whole family.
