Golfing with Georgia friends

Trip with 7 golfers from Georgia to play golf at the Lake course. The course was in great shape. We bought the Trail Pass which reduces the rate at all the Robert Trent Jones course by about 50%. If you are a golfer and near Opelika, AL, you need to play this course. We will make this a destination for future golf trips.

Enjoyable Golf Course on RTJ Golf Trail
We had played some of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail several years ago. So we were looking forward to playing Grand National Golf Course. With the Links Course going under improvements, we still thoroughly enjoyed the Lakes Course. Many holes of the course are along the shoreline of the Lake - they were either extra challenging or scenic. As a twosome we were glad to be paired with another twosome. Even on a Monday in June, the course was very busy and all were foursomes. This may be due to the Links Course being closed. The Lakes Course is exciting, demanding and challenging. The par-3s are all exciting especially those close to the water. We enjoyed a very good lunch at the Clubhouse. We also played the Short Course. A lot of FUN with plenty of challenges. Exciting golf for golfers of all levels. I always admire the vision and success of creating the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Admiring the vision to create over 100 miles of golf holes and simultanesouly. Now with eleven sites it continues to be a huge success. Highly recommend for groups or couples or individuals in Alabama to check out this amazing and unique venue. Fore!

    Very strong golf destination
We played all three courses based out of the single clubhouse. All cart men, pro shop and rangers were helpful and welcoming. The Links course was our least favorite. First, it's not a traditional links course. The Bermuda rough was so deep we lost balls even if we saw the hit. All greens are elevated and bunkered. And carts are parked far from the greens. This became a very tiring walk for we seniors. And the entire course was wet even though there had been no rain. But if you're up for a beautiful tract on the difficult side definitely play it. We would all play it again The Short Course is aesthetically pleasing and good for working on your short game. We suggest using different tees to avoid only hitting 3 clubs. Again be prepared for long walks to and from greens. The Lakes Course is very scenic. The layout is great, offering doglegs along with straight aways. The cart paths are near the greens also. This was our favorite. Be ready to have water in play on over half of the holes The grille was excellent with a good variety of breakfast and lunch meals. We enjoyed dining on the patio. Overall we'd go back and enjoyed our three rounds of golf.
