  6. 5.0 The Sound Wall (1 review)
    - Fun, intimate recording studio/concert venue
    Concerts
This place is a recording studio and small concert venue in a refurbished house in downtown Opelika, complete with an upstairs artist's residence (lodging). The concerts are BYOB, and it is just something neat on the local entertainment scene. The owners are pleasant and friendly; they are also musicians, and they have a small (well-groomed, non-biter) dog that meanders around during the performances. I just went to see a young, modern folk artist concert there, and thought it was a great way to relax and spend the evening. See more..

    - Best vintage thrift store with STYLE!
    Saturday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
Era is the kind of place I used to DREAM about finding while visiting different cities and states. The owner, Jasmine, is a collector herself and has amassed what she considers unique items 'cherry-picked' from different ERAS of the last century. From the 40's up to the '90s. Furniture, fashion, clothing, housewares, decor. Lamps and lighting features are among her favorite items to collect and feature in her store. Mid-century/ modern furniture, vintage bar wear. I REALLY enjoyed her warm personality and especially the seasonal holiday items on display. Give it a look-see next time you're visiting downtown Opelika, Alabama soon! See more..

  10. 5.0 Railroad Junktion (1 review)
    - New Antique & collectibles downtown shop
    Saturday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
Opelika, Alabama's nickname is 'A Railroad Town'. It got this nickname because Historical location with a Historical theme. Opelika was centrally located in the 1800's railways routes hey dey. If you wanted to go visit Atlanta, Macon, New Orleans, Birmingham, or Savannah, in 1853 and after, a new invention nicknamed 'The Frog' now allowed railroad tracks going in different directions to be able to cross each other and direct traffic through central hubs rather than having to go all the way around for miles and miles. It's in the spirit of this local railroad history of the thriving tourism and commerce that the antique store Railroad JUNKtion gets its name. I absolutely was enthralled with the selection and variety this old refurbished building has to offer. I'm SO HAPPY its open, the shop assistants are so friendly and knowlegable about the history of old items for sale and as I've visited several times before, there's always something new and fun to see. Specializing in items for stylish man caves of the vintage era. See more..

  14. 4.5 Salem-Shotwell Covered Bridge (27 reviews)
    - Please keep this piece of history safe!
    Spent < 1 hour Bridges
    Salem-Shotwell Covered Bridge image
My history nerd self couldnt pass the opportunity to visit this covered bridge. It is interesting that it is placed neared a super busy area with soccer fields and a private school right across it, plus the resdential area. For pictures, park in the sports field. It is only a 1 minute walk. It has graffiti inside, which breaks my heart, but overall the bridge is well-preserved and located over a natural, not man-made, creek which gives it its dignity back. It was a privilege to see this preserved piece. Kuwani's club (Kiwani? sp?) were responsible for this to happen. KUDOS See more..

  22. 3.5 Surge Adventure Park (4 reviews)
    - Get that energy out!

    Surge Adventure Park image
This was a great outing for my 3yr old grandson. I was a bit worried that he would be trampled by older kids but other children were mindful of his little self. They also have "staff" on the floor but most of them were busy chatting with each other or on their phones. They have a few snacks and drinks for sale but nothing to make a meal of. Overall good experience but I'd definitely parent and keep an eye on your children. See more..
