An optical illusion literally means doing puzzles with your eyes. The visitor will be able to unravel some of Escher’s mysteries like the Impossible Penrose Triangle by constructing one himself. Duinrell Amusement Park image
This place is fantastic. We stayed in the lux Lodge tents, and would definitely recommend. We had so much space, a real bathroom, a full kitchen and dining areas inside and out on the balcony. The theme park is incredible and suitable for all ages, including my teenage kids. Food is expensive on site but the supermarket offers smart priced items as well as the more expensive branded options and there are plenty of other local supermarkets outside the park. Staff in the park aren't the most friendly (especially one young blonde girl on reception who was rude and seemed bored to be there when I was enquiring about the reduced access to the tiki pool and about check out ) but to be honest we didn't really have to deal with them much. Supermarket staff were great. A must see is the skyline from the viewing platform at night. We couldn't believe no one else walked up there. We saw shooting stars and a red moonrise. Perfect holiday. Great location for visiting Eftling too. It was only a one and a half hour drive. See more..

We walked through this street on a Saturday night after a concert in the nearby Armenius church. It was very very busy. Mostly with young people (20-30), drinking, talking, singing. We had some trouble now and then to walk on due to the many and overcrowded terraces and pubs with people on the walkway. Good atmosphere though. The gardens were gorgeous. We were very lucky to see the Amorphophallus titanum, though it wasn't in flower at that point. They had a beautiful sacred lotus that was in flower and the pond with the koi fish in was beautiful. The upper floor of the greenhouse was gorgeous. The giant lillypads were incredible. There were also lots of benches around if you wanted to sit down and listen to nature. I also really enjoyed looking at their carnivorous plant collection. See more..

    Maritime Museum Rotterdam image
Many of the exhibits here are geared toward a younger crowd-upper elementary to middle school. But we still found them thoughtful and informative. The oil rig exhibit was very well done. Going onto a virtual rig was quite the experience. My favorite part was the maritime themed art exhibit of pieces on loan from the Boijman van Beuningen museum which is closed for renovation right now. Very famous pieces of art including Bosch and Monet. Was introduced to the concept of "pen painting." My husband and son loved the model ships and the pieces in the port you could walk onto. We enjoyed a beer and snack at the cafe downstairs and the gift shop was nice. See more..

    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Beestenmarkt image
This lovely square is filled with trees shading you on warm days as you sit on one of the restaurants that is all around the square. There is plenty of restaurants to choose from, and in our opinion much better choice of restaurants than what you find on Markt. We found that this was the most popular place for the locals as well. From 1595 to 1972 the square was the Delft cattle market where local farmers came with their cattle. This was then replaced making place for a parking lot. In the 90's it was being transformed into the lively square you'll find today. See more..

  40. 4.0 De Rotterdam Steam Ship (582 reviews) from $14.23
    - It'SS RotterDAMN good.
    Ships
    De Rotterdam Steam Ship image
We would strongly recommend visiting the SS Rotterdam and doing both the self guided and guided tours. In particular the guided tour of the engine spaces was excellent, though we think we may got very lucky with our guide who spoke impeccable English, but was also translating into German and had incredible knowledge of the systems below deck. A lot the vessel is open to the public as it now a hotel, but there were guides in a lot of the rooms which you are encouraged to visit who were more than happy to provide insight and overview. Some of the entertainment spaces were very decadent and worth a wander round. The self guided audio tour takes you round a number of spaces and decks, however we felt it lacked direction at times and signage wasn't always clear to ensure you went round in the order expected. Only down side we can think of so that isn't bad going. Don't remember the entrance ticket being overly expensive for the tour and we spent a good few of hours going round. See more..

THE LONGEST CHURCH OF THE NETHERLANDS The great fire of 1552 destroyed much of the medieval church of Saint John. Shortly after the disaster, the council commissioned the reconstruction of the most startling church of Holland. With 123 meters it is also the longest church in The Netherlands THE 72 STAINED-GLASS WINDOWS ARE WORLD-FAMOUS Entering the Church of St. John, one falls silent at the sight of the majestic space with the 72 world-famous stained-glass windows. That first experience will only get stronger when you see the marvellous light by the 'Dutch Masters' invading the Church. The rich history of Holland can be read in the large windows. It is a beginning of an impressive discovery along biblical and historical scenes of human emotions. Scheveningen Beach image
What a fun beach to visit! It is an easy trip on the tram from The Hague to Scheveningen Beach. It was very windy when we were there, but people were flying kites and it was fun to walk along the beach and on the pier. I would recommend leaving the boardwalk to eat as you can find less expensive options a few streets from the beach. See more..

You have to pay 1.50 per a cup in there. There was a demonstration as well where birds are doing some kind of stunts. The Madagascar animal section is also something unique where animals freely roam around you. Park is big, expect to spend at least 4 5 hours inside. See more..

In the year 1280 AD, the gate to the outer courtyard or Buitenhof served as the main entrance to the castle of the Counts of Holland, known as the Binnenhof today. In 1428, this ‘Front Gate to the Court’ also became a prison. It was where defaulters were incarcerated and suspected criminals awaited their trials. It was a prison for four hundred years. The Prison Gate has been a museum since 1882. Ever since, it has been home to the biggest collection of instruments of punishment and torture in the Netherlands. See more..
