Scuba & Snorkelling
My experience with this school can only be described as dangerous. I attended what was meant to be a Dry Suit Specialty. I contacted the school in advance to make sure they had a dry suit that would fit me. On the day of the training, during the first dive I immediately informed the instructor that the suit was leaking in the wrists. The instructor continued with the exercise regardless. By the time I was under water my entire suit was flooded. As a consequence, my clothes (you are fully dressed under a dry suit) were soaked and I started to lose temperature. Swimming with the suit was extremely hard (due to the increase volume - this gets much worse when exiting the water due to the weight)... and establishing neutral bouyancy (the basis of diving) was close to impossible. I ended up having signs of hypothermia (had to sit in the sun, remove all wet clothes... and still couldn't stop shivering and my fingers were numb). On the second attempt, we tried a different suit. I immediately noted it was also leaking. The instructor then put rubber bands in my wrists... and then put THREE RUBBER BANDS AROUND MY NECK. Needless to say, I had difficulty breathing. A fellow diver exiting the water told us both that this was extremely dangerous (which I already knew, but somehow thought my instructor knew what he/she was doing). I refused to get under water with three rubber bands in my neck. After asking the school for a refund (and highlighting the life threatening situation I experienced) their response was that the first dive was completed (note: even with a FULLY FLOODED DRY SUIT that was supposed to allow me to practice dry suit diving) so they are keeping the money. SAFETY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN DIVING. If you care about yours, I would suggest looking for a different school. See more..
