  3. 4.0 Duinrell Amusement Park (1.257 reviews)
    - Amazing visit, great weather, perfect accommodation

    Duinrell Amusement Park image
This place is fantastic. We stayed in the lux Lodge tents, and would definitely recommend. We had so much space, a real bathroom, a full kitchen and dining areas inside and out on the balcony. The theme park is incredible and suitable for all ages, including my teenage kids. Food is expensive on site but the supermarket offers smart priced items as well as the more expensive branded options and there are plenty of other local supermarkets outside the park. Staff in the park aren't the most friendly (especially one young blonde girl on reception who was rude and seemed bored to be there when I was enquiring about the reduced access to the tiki pool and about check out ) but to be honest we didn't really have to deal with them much. Supermarket staff were great. A must see is the skyline from the viewing platform at night. We couldn't believe no one else walked up there. We saw shooting stars and a red moonrise. Perfect holiday. Great location for visiting Eftling too. It was only a one and a half hour drive. See more..

This water park was discounted for us at €10pp as we were staying with Eurocamp at Duinrell. You get two hours inside and 30 minutes for changing. So 2 1/2 hours in all. You get a timed ticket on entry that you must scan ti exit. If I lover 2 1/2 hours charges apply. There is an indoor and outdoor area. Changing between the two is not allowed. We only did the inside as Gaby is where all the water slides are. The slides are great. Fast, frantic and exhilarating. Lots of fun to be had by all . See more..

One of my favourite places in Rotterdam. Ideal for a walk through this beautiful city park, picnic, BBQ and relax. Several good places to have drinks, coffee, snacks or meals. Also very highly recommended to walk along the river and/or the wide green avenue in the middle, past Veerhaven marina, through the Shipping Quarter (Scheepvaartkwartier), the most beautiful neighbourhood of Rotterdam, between Het Park and the Erasmus Bridge. Westerpark was created to give the residents of Zoetermeer something. If you want to take a walk, you can spend up to two hours walg the outer paths. There are sports facilities for football, hockey, and probaly many more. There is even an archary club. Possibly my favorite are is the nature garden. Here you see nature come and go with the seasons. (at least from march to november, it's closed in the winter). You can take your dog for a walk. There are a few areas especially set up for dogs. You can cycle, and I would aprieciate it if the cyclists syayed on the cycle paths. You can hire boats and row or pedel on the waterways/lake. There's probaly more, take a look... See more..

Huys te Warmont is the cute kind of castle of the Estate Huys te Warmond. It's probably from 1300 with two different towers, one with a clock and the other with sundial. The house is now a private property and not open to the public but the estate is open for the public. It's a nice area to walk around and enjoy the nature. We found some special trees and also a Gnome Forest. It's funny to see it. See more..

    Spent 1-2 hours Parks
    rijksmonument Houtmansplantsoen uit 1829 image
Houtmansplantsoen is an attractive little park with a variety of tall trees and winding footpaths on a sloping terrain. When we visited the weather was bad and we only made a quick tour but, on a sunny day, it could be a nice spot for a picknick. The park is dotted with monuments. High up, at the top of some stairs, there is a fine windmill (1832) called Castle mill (‘t Slot’ in Dutch). It was built on the site of the castle of Gouda, which was demolished in 1577. There is a (disused) fountain memorial (1895) to a former mayor of Gouda. We liked the contemporary bronze water spout in the form of a cormorant by artist Ineke Van Dijk. A second monument (1880) is a tribute to the brothers Cornelis and Frederik Houtman, after whom the park is named. The seafaring brothers discovered the maritime East Indies route in the 16th century. In the lower part of the park there is an elegant cast-iron bandstand (‘De muziektent’ in Dutch, reviewed elsewhere). See more..

Interesting about this place is that it started as a private estate to a villa which has been destroyed in WWII. This background explains the old, monumental trees and the botanical diversity of the trees. Without knowing that, it is still a pleasant park for a stroll, or, if you are a tourist, why not buy your lunch in a local supermarket and have it here sitting on the grass? See more..

In addition, you can also go for a swim in the 25-meter pool, a dip of the diving board or sliding of the 25 meter long disco slide. Also for the little ones among us there is an 'Elephants' slide, a water cannon, waterfall and warm hug wall. We don’t want you to miss our uniquest whirlpool in the Netherlands, so feel free to drop by to get your beautiful memories too. From an early age, we offer the possibility to learn to swim. Children from 4 years of age can participate in the swimming lessons to graduate a swimming-ABC. The cost for swimming lessons are € 49,90 per month (average price). The one-time registration fee is € 20,00. Next to the swimming pool you can enjoy food and drinks in our beautiful restaurant! See more..

  36. 4.0 De Gorzen Park (5 reviews)
    - Not a garbage dump anymore
    Spent 2-3 hours Parks
    De Gorzen Park image
East of Ridderkerk between Rotterdamseweg and the river is De Gorzen park. The first thing you notice about this park is, it is not flat but rather hilly. Unusual at least in this part of the Netherlands. Moreover the name 'gorzen' is or at least was commonly meaning land outside the dike that could occasionally overflow. It turned out the park was developed on a former garbage dump. Materials that could not be burnt like debris and other solid substances were dumped here for decades. It explains the hilly scenery. Anyway I think the municipal authorities did an excellent job in turning the area into a beautiful park. More recently the adjacent Crezée polder was given up and pretty much looks like the old 'gorzen'. At first I was rather sceptical about giving up the fertile agricultural land, but after seeing the result I changed my mind. Very nice river landscape and the place is accessible as there are hiking trails. Don't forget to hit the small tower at the highest point of the park for a good overview of the wider surroundings. It is just high enough to see the windmills of Kinderdijk. There is a parking lot for cars at the Northwest side of the park at Gorzenweg, but access by bicycle is easier (from the South and Southeast). See more..

Tuesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Parks
Together with old city park 't Hof this is a very pleasant green space in Vlaardingen. In October leaves on many of the trees turn orange, while the grass is still green and the ponds are filled to the rim with water. It results in beautiful color effects. When I visited on a rainy weekday the café at the Watertower was closed and there were few people around. Quietness has become a rare commodity these days, but if you are lucky you will find it at Orangepark. See more..

  42. 4.0 t' Hof (3 reviews)
    - Historic city park
    Parks
    t' Hof image
't Hof (the Garden) is a four centuries old park, originally part of an estate where in the 17th century the Van Ruitenburgh family lived; you can spot a Van Ruitenburgh on the famous Rembrandt painting "De Nachtwacht". Today 't Hof is an impressive city park, together with the "Oranjepark", which was an addition in the '30's of last century. The park is close to the city center, at the other side of the harbour. It is a jewel in the cityscape of Vlaardingen, however, the council of Vlaardingen is desperate to find places to build more and more houses; some years ago a sway of new houses encroached on the "Oranjepark", so I wonder how long further encroachement on this green oasis can be put off. - Kinderfeestje klimbos Abel inclusief eten
Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks • Game & Entertainment Centers

Top feestje.

Pleasant park bordering the Spui river west of Oud-Beijerland. North of the park is Oude Tol (old jetty) where there is a large pond with ducks, geese and other aquatic birds. The park follows the embankment of the river southward. There are some meadows between the borderline and the main road. Quiet and nice for a stroll. The park is also at a crossroads of bike and hiking trails. The park is often exposed to strong Western winds. Some clothing against it would be useful. Good real estate and suburban construction has been halted here. See more..

    - Leftover space with grass and patches of shrub
    State Parks
    Sterrenbos image
Almost 2 km in length, but just 100m wide this grassy green zone along the 'New Waterway' looks rather neglected. There used to be tall trees, but the local authorities ordered them all to be cut. There are some patches with low leftovers. The east side of Maassluis was the scene of similar destruction. There the whole river bank including a cycle path was converted into an industrial zone. It reflects the vision of the ruling coalition of the cartel parties: business before wellbeing. See more..

It used to be such a nice place with lots of shade and shelter against the wind provided by tall trees and shrubs. After the rearrangement by 'Staatsbosbeheer' now it is nearly all bare grassy land. The new trees that were planted died, because of drought and bad watermanagement. Whenever authorities in an office decide to cut old trees and remove shrubs, they do not seem to realize it takes decades for new trees to grow and nature to recover. New seedlings have to be nurtured, but they seem to have no budgetline for that. The park has a dead end towards the west, where the Blankenburgtunnel project is underway. Further west Maassluis has converted the old green zone into an industrial area (old trees were cut and the cycle path was dismantled). See more..

The park is located along the banks of the Devel river. It is just under 2 km west of Zwijndrecht railway station. The park has the form of a horseshoe, actually an old meander of the Devel. I like the tall trees providing shade during the summer. Also good to visit in spring or autumn. See more..
