Wonderful NATURE

And yet Another great discovery nearby after all these years living in that area. Beautiful nature estate, with one of the entrances in Voorschoten (there are several of the entrances). Loved it in the spring time and now in autumn it’s even more restful and beautiful as well as not crowded.

Beautiful, shady paths for a jog or a stroll
Lovely location to put in some miles or to simply wander and enjoy the large shade trees and peaceful surroundings. Keep in mind that this park is closed during certain hours, but it may not be evident as the gate stays open (my first visit I was flagged down by a security person who politely let me know the royal family was jogging and I should do my run elsewhere - funny, as an American, to think how I'd have been dealt with if I'd been jogging on the White House grounds when the president was about!) Also keep in mind that the park does cost money (something like 2€) for entrance, but that is also posted in a subtle way, and only in Dutch. The ticket counter is usually closed, but you can buy a ticket with coins from the machine. We opted for a family annual pass, which only costs €16 and is totally worth it to enjoy this beautiful park year-round.

During certain times of the year a very nice place to walk combined with a high-tea!.
The park is nice, has a variety of landscapes and is a quiet and nice area to walk. I always love the seringenberg (lilac mountain) , a hill which has a great view when the seringen/lilac tree is in bloom and the surrounding area has a lovely color!... It get's even better when you combine it with a high-tea there at the old tea house (which dates back to 1861).. On the outskirts of this park you have the home of the present king of the Netherlands (Villa Eikenhorst), he will only move in a few years from now to the Palace Huis ten Bosch in the Hague (as that is being rennovated).
