Hi guys, On monday everything is closed. The bar, the visitor's center, the museum, the inn. You can not rent a bike on monday. Or you have to rent it in advance on sunday. Nice exception:Toilets are open, even on monday, in the visitor's center Every day of the week: the inn/restaurant is only available for guests of the camping or inn. If you are a day visitor and you want to order coffee in the inn: no way. The restauarant is only available for overnight visitors. Nature is lovely. Wonderful escape right outside The Hague. Get a bit away from the main paths and you are aĺl alone for a stroll and picknick. The center is okay to buy a drink. Musum nice but smaĺl and worth 15 min. Ideal with bikes.See more..

Huys te Warmont is the cute kind of castle of the Estate Huys te Warmond. It's probably from 1300 with two different towers, one with a clock and the other with sundial. The house is now a private property and not open to the public but the estate is open for the public. It's a nice area to walk around and enjoy the nature. We found some special trees and also a Gnome Forest. It's funny to see it.See more..

There used to be agricultural land at this southeastern side of the isle of Dordrecht. Now it is a new nature and recreational area mainly visited by people from the city of Dordrecht. You can walk, cycle, canoe and watch birdlife here. The area still feels a bit artificial as it has only recently been 'developed'. Perhaps an indication of what is ahead for the Netherlands in the future: continued urbanization with recreational areas. The western part of the isle of Dordrecht has been 'developed' into an ugly industrial zone.See more..
5.0Vlist river(1 review) - Enchanting Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas Just 10 km in length, but one of the loveliest rivers in the Dutch polder landscape, flows between Schoonhoven and Haastrecht. In the past it served as a transport route to Utrecht. Nowadays the river is still a crucial waterway to drain superfluous water from the adjacent polders. The east bank of the Vlist is best for hiking or cycling as there is no car traffic allowed. Some farms sell their produce such as cheese or fruit along the way. It is possible to rent canoes in Schoonhoven and row to Haastrecht. In winter the river is great for ice skating. From Rotterdam to cycle along the Lek north bank to Schoonhoven, hence north along the Vlist and back west along the Hollandse IJssel north bank to Gouda and back south to Rotterdam is a pleasant loop during all seasons. It is about 75 km and one of my standard excursions.See more..

Part of the natura 2000 structure, the flats are a unique area especially for bird lovers. A visit gives you an idea of how nature looked before the farmers started to cultivate the land. Rather swampy, crisscrossed by creeks and small streams, no tall trees, mainly reeds and shrubs. 'Natuurmonumenten' made the flats accessible to hikers without infringing too much on the environment. There is no paved road or path, just a trail. I visited after a period of prolonged rain and the trail proved rather muddy. There are two viewpoints: one is a hut, the other an elevation. From both you have magnificent views over the Haringvliet and the Spui delta. There are two routes for walkers. One is short (1.6 km) around a rectangular body of water, the other is 4.6 km and goes right through the flats. Wear good shoes. There is a small car park (no charges). I cycled from Rotterdam (34 km) and saw more birds in the polder than in the reserve. November is quiet.See more..
