The main exhibition hall is free to look round. We took the hour and a half boat cruise around the port, which is also good if you want to take a look at the Harbour Seals. Not the most exciting of boat trips. But, we had a very good guide, and there is also an audio guide which you can play through your 'phone. Worth looking at all the ships and the sizes up close will amaze you. One reason we took this trip is that both my parents (TripAdvisor - can we have just a Family tab please with no age range?) have limited mobility, and access to the boat is disabled friendly.See more..

Whilst the gardens are the destination, some of the fields along the way were absolutely amazing and there was hardly anyone else around. Whether biking or driving into Kuekenhof, take the time to explore some of the surrounding roads, you will find them incredible.See more..

Just behind (South) the old Raadhuis in central Oud-Beijerland. Very knowledgeable staff as they go to the sites themselves. In my case she could even recommend what kind of shoes to wear when visiting the Korendijkse Slikken (new nature reserve SW of Oud-Beijerland). They also have maps of marked hiking trails and cycling routes. Some are free of charge.See more..

De Historische Vereniging Maassluis (HVM) verzorgt stadswandelingen (circa 1,5 uur) langs alle belangrijke monumenten in de fraaie historische binnenstad en op het Schanseiland. Omdat de binnenstad zeer compact is wordt er geen grote afstand afgelegd.
Maassluis is een uniek stadje, ontstaan bij twee belangrijke sluizen van het Delfland, de Monsterse en de Wateringse Sluis. Deze sluizen waren oorspronkelijk spuien die zorgden voor de afwatering van de Noordvliet en de Zuidvliet. Deze vlieten werden rond 1350 gegraven door de gemeenten Monster en Wateringen om het natte Westland bewoonbaar te maken. De beide vlieten lopen evenwijdig vlak naast elkaar en monden uit in de Havenkom van Maassluis. Door de ligging van deze vlieten is een uniek stadsbeeld ontstaan.
De wandeling is onder leiding van een HVM stadsgids. Deze gids is vrijwilliger van de vereniging en is voor deze taak opgeleid door het volgen van de cursus Ervaar Maassluis.See more..

Er zijn nog veel eendenkooien in Nederland, maar daarbuiten niet of nauwelijks Met behulp van voer, tamme eenden en het kooikers hondje lokt de kooiker wilde eenden in de val, ofwel zijn kooi. Hijzelf blijft dankzij nauwkeurig opgestelde riet-schermen onzichtbaar. Bakkerswaal is gesitueerd rondom een als gevolg van een dijkdoorbraak ontstaan wiel. De pachtende kooiker plantte hier ook wilgen om wilgentenen te kunnen oogsten als bijverdienste. Ook werden wel populieren geplant; hier werden klompen van gemaakt. Door de eeuwen heen is rondom de eendenkooi een specifieke natuur ontstaan. Hierdoor en vanwege het ambacht dat hier wordt uitgevoerd is dit een spannende plek om te bezoeken.See more..
