Escape to tranquility and enjoy the reminders of a bygone era.
It was extremely hot and busy in Delft centre, so we walked from the rail station past the building site and the windmill to Agnetapark and found a well-preserved example of an industrial social housing project from the 1800's with a park and working fountain - and it was deserted apart from a couple of fishermen and a solitary dogwalker. The houses within the park were noticeably better maintained and tidier than in nearby streets. We sauntered back to the middle of town along the pleasant and peaceful banks of the Rijn-Schiekannal until we came to the Koepoort Brug and returned to the hustle and bustle.

    Industrial historic site
This area of Delft used to be the property of the nearby factory. The houses built here were for the people working in the factory and their families. As you walk around the park and the houses you have a feeling of being submerged in another time. It is nice to see that the inhabitants are doing what they can to preserve this feeling. There is a local cafe at this park where you can sit down to enjoy some tea or coffee.
