Wonderful collection
The Mauritshuis is home to the very best of Dutch Golden Age painting. The compact, yet world-renowned collection, is situated in the heart of The Hague, right next to the government centre. Masterpieces such as Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp by Rembrandt, The Goldfinch by Fabritius and The Bull by Potter are on permanent display in the intimate rooms of this seventeenth-century monument.

Lovely Museum with Friendly Staff
This is a lovely Museum. It is very small with only 2 floors of exhibits, but it displays some of the best Dutch artwork. The staff is polite, friendly, attentive, and they greet you with a smile. Communication in English is not a problem as the staff speaks perfect English. Taking pictures is currently permitted as long as you don’t use flash and your pictures are for personal use. Check with the Museum for additional information. Length of visit? I would say 2-3 hours. If you go when it opens, you’ll avoid the crowds specially around the Girl with a Pearl Earring. We went at 10 AM when it opened and had to the place all to ourselves for about 30 min or so. I recommend you go to the Girl with the Pearl Earring first and take all the pics and selfies you want while the place is fairly empty. The Goldfinch was also busy after a while…

A true gem!
Everything a museum experience should be! This gem of a museum has the gravitas and impressive collection of a Louvre, with the comparative intimacy of the Sir John Sloane, Villa Borghese Collection, or Frick Mansion. The staff are respectful, friendly, and attentive and even during busy times, the atmosphere is calm and welcoming. I’ve been here several times before, the last time being years ago, and I was stunned with the quality of collection (temporary and permanent) combined with the ease and efficiency of information (e.g. an app which allows access to a free audioguide). After many of the world’s museums (Louvre, Prado, Met, Hermitage, Victora & Albert) have lost their appeal (to me) due to crowds and coldness, this museum remains a gem for true art lovers who appreciate art and atmosphere over Instagram selfies!
