Escher at the Palace is dedicated to the work of Holland’s most famous graphic artist M.C. Escher. Nearly all his prints are exhibited, among them Belvedere, Drawing Hands, Waterfall and Ascending and Descending. Here you can see how Escher changed fishes into birds, made water flow upstream and his less known, but very attractive early Italian landscapes. On our main- and first floor you can see how his work progressed from depicting the real world to his constructed worlds. Optical illusion is a key word in his work.An optical illusion depicts something which is in fact impossible. M.C. Escher was a master in this field. An optical illusion literally means doing puzzles with your eyes. The visitor will be able to unravel some of Escher’s mysteries like the Impossible Penrose Triangle by constructing one himself. The extra presentation “In the Eye of Escher” shows various themes in which Escher was involved, like reflection, perception and perspective. See more..

Every brick every time every sculpture of painting was a gift from a country who supported the construction of The Peace Palace. The history of this building and what it represents is extremely fascinating and well worth the effort if you're ever here in The Hague. 10 out of 10! See more..

What a fun beach to visit! It is an easy trip on the tram from The Hague to Scheveningen Beach. - 4.5 De Mesdag Collection (136 reviews)
-One of my favourite museums in the world
Art Museums
The house itself is lovely inside. What I loved was the collection of art. I really liked the collection, a mixture of studies and paintings. The explanations were excellent and I watched all the videos which I don’t usually do. They were interesting and amusing. What makes it particularly lovely is it is quiet and you can really take your time enjoying the art. If you want to see a very famous painting and take a selfie, not the museum for you. If you love landscapes and French and Dutch art, then I’d advise you to visit. I thought it was a good sized collection. See more..
- 4.5 Museum Bredius (126 reviews)
-A hidden gem
Speciality Museums
Close to the Mauritius, this small museum was a gem. Located in a house, it has several floors of paintings . On the main floor there is a painting by Rembrandt of Christ- spectacular- and I thought I’d seen most of his work in museums and books, but not this one. There are also a number of Rembrandt’s etchings in addition to some really wonderful Dutch art. There is a fee to enter but I also made a donation as it’s important to support this beautiful yet small museum. See more..

In 2014 a magnificent Apple Store was opened here, enabled by bookshop de Slegte willing to move their activities to a different place (for a good price, no doubt). See more..

Yes, it is also "see or be seen". Can even be conceited and somewhat ingenious, though that is the fun here. Just sit down and enjoy the show. And know just around the corner are the historical buildings, department stores, boutiques and all young and old need to visit. See more..

The Hofvijver is not really a pond but actually a lake fed by a water flow from the dunes of Kijkduin. It was created from a natural lake in 1248 by William the second when he built the first castle on the location. Now it is a mesmerizing backdrop to the centre of government, the Binnenhof, and the small tower which is the office of the prime minister. See more..

Because of the Corona, a few items are closed, however, I did not think this made the experience much less. See more..
