First time zip lining in the country and it was awesome. We had Cam and Ali and could not have had more fun!!!! They were so knowledgeable, so engaging, so FUNNY! Charisma was the word of the day for these two. Do yourself a favor and request them….you’re welcome in advance. We are definitely coming back with a larger group. Everything from the gators, the birds, the flora, the fauna, mesmerizing!!!! See more..
4.0Fontainebleau State Park(345 reviews) - 72 degrees 12/30 late afternoon walk in the Park Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM State Parks
I used 1/2 vacation day on 12/30, to take a walk through Fontainebleau State Park with my daughter and our dog. Who'd have thought it would be 72 degrees F on the next to last day of the year, a beautiful day to spend a couple of hours with my daughter still home from school. The entrance fee was $3/person, nothing for the dog!!! Most of our walk was through the woods on the Sugar Mill trail, but it was so nice we also walked out on the alligator boardwalk, two pictures attached. then we looped around to the beach and the pier, two more pictures attached. On the way back to the car, there is plenty of parking in various areas of the park, we spotted two interesting historical markers. One concerned native peoples and one enslaved people from plantation days (the early to mid-1800s). It was sad to head home for dinner after such a nice late afternoon walk.See more..
There's nothing like a water park for a hot Louisiana day, and this one is especially refreshing, not only for the heat relief offered by its wave pool, raft ride and slides, but also for its noncommercial, friendly atmosphere.See more..
Three of us visited the park on 16 June 2021. We knew it had a 2-mile trail to walk on and I knew it had a bird park as well. We were lucky in that there was a little flee market going on that day. One of the girls with me brought something for her granddaughter. The park was a very nice place and we felt safe. We walked the park, saw the different birds and took some pictures by/of the artwork. This was a very pleasant way to end our day. If back in the area, I would visit it again.See more..
4.0Grand Isle State Park(211 reviews) - Beauty and peace! Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Islands • Parks

Go camping here! Great place and plenty of space to camp. We have a 36 ft travel trailer and there was tons of space and lots of hiking. Fire wood everywhere that you can pick up and burn. Free laundry machines! Our kids loved it too, with several up to date playgrounds. Also they have a large disc golf space and cabins if you don’t want to tent or have a RV. We stayed for five nights, and we could have stayed longer because it’s so peaceful. Everybody we met here was super friendly!See more..
It was fun quiet place. Only knew the golf tournament was in town by the size of their busses. The confusing part was the 2 entrances. The one on Segnette (the google map takes us to) one was usually locked and the MAIN entrance is off drake street. If you value your plumbing have your spouse watch the vehicle as you pull over the table. The main entrance has a hump TABLE going into it that a lot of people scrape their vehicles across. The other entrance does not have hump tables(that you scrape your vehicles). But it is locked. Once you get in the birds and other animals are singing. Peaceful and pleasant place.See more..
4.5Prien Lake Park(151 reviews) - Walking for fun and exercise Parks
This park has been built to encourage people to exercise The scenery is beautifu lwith the walking paths and the places to stop to perform certain exercises. It has a water play area which is on during the summer when the kiddos want to cool off. It is dog friendly with watering bowl for dogs and if you like people watching this is the place for you. It has an ampetheater .and has movies during the summer. Right now it;s a little hard to get to because of road work. You also can see the curved bridge that crosses the lake to give you access to Sulphur and Westlake, La.See more..
5.0Kiroli Park(131 reviews) - Christmas at Kiroli Parks
We attended the Christmas lights in Kiroli Park drive through event. It is 10.00 to get in and they have a radio station you can set to and hear the music inside your car. There were displays featuring lights, inflatable decorations and handmade painted wooden pieces all over. It was nicely done and fun to drive through. It is not as large as Candy Cane lane but it was very well laid out and looked good. Glad to see the lights back in the park.See more..
The Park has over 250 American Alligators to see. You follow the walkways and platforms to see them throughout this natural environment. There is an Alligator Show where they are feeding them and relating fun facts. You get to see Big Lou, 11.5 ft long, jump out of the water for his snack. There is a place where you can hold the smaller alligator and another place where you can hold snakes. They also offer the private Bayou Swamp Tour. They took us to Three Leagues Bayou to search for alligators. We saw egrets, blue heron, and cypress trees but the biggest thrill was spotting 4 alligators at different locations in the swamp. Two were on a log sunning and 2 were in the water.See more..
Took my grandson and he had a ball. He was 2 1/2 and had to stay on the little kids side as they had another part of the park for older kids, but the two are next to each other. Be prepared to move and be active because the kids go in one side and exit another. You have to be able to see them all the way though, so yes it wore PawPaw out as well as the grand baby.See more..
4.0Chicot State Park(118 reviews) - tent camper - regretted being at campgrounds on Friday and Saturday nights. State Parks
Chicot State Park is in many ways very attractive with its forested and hilly terrain plus its reservoir filled with bald cypress and a few tupelo. Plus adjacent to it is the state Arboretum with its educational displays and identified trees. Highly recommended. Overall park was clean but the only shower in the park was okay but really needs to be upgraded. We had about a half mile commute to that shower each day from our campsite. Rode our bikes so that was okay but calls of nature were a problem due to the distance. Thank goodness for a thorny olive bush. As a tent camper, we regretted being at South Landing Campgrounds on Friday and Saturday nights. Very loud music and very loud voices till late hours with no enforcement of quiet time. Bike trail for mile one is not an enjoyable mile to ride. Several steep up and downs with eroded banks and exposed tree roots. We had to push our bikes rather than ride them. Going in the opposite direction was much better with mostly flat terrain to ride.See more..

Beautiful location for this well-designed and well-maintained park. No issues with my site (27' travel trailer). The staff were friendly and helpful. Many interesting things to see and do in the area. The Abbeville Cultural and Historical Museum was interesting and the staff member told me alot about the displays, the area, and the famous Giant Omelette Festival!See more..
This was absolutely beautiful. It has clearly paved paths and board walks over the bayou that take you out to the actual lake that the park is named after. In just a short 30 minutes, I was able to see two cranes, a gator, many indigenous bird species, plenty of fish, dragonflies, and so much more. You can’t go to Louisiana a visit to the swamplands!See more..
This park is a few miles north of 1-20 on Hwy. 33 in Ruston. Known for it's bike trails, this park offers wide paved walking paths around a beautiful lake, hookups for campers as well as tent sites, picnic areas and pavilions. The dogwood trees in spring are truly spectacular. This is one of the most well-maintained parks we have ever visited.See more..
A better value than the expensive Rip Van Winkle, Longfellow Evangeline State Historical Site contains exhibits with a history of the Creole and Acadian people. Very quiet and peaceful. The pads and restrooms were very well cleaned and serviced by campground host, Jack, who was very friendly. We visited in the dead of winter thinking that it would be mostly empty and was surprised to find that most of the sites were full. People were very friendly and family oriented. We were a group of 3 and were able to be located in very close pads. For us, this park compared very favorably to parks we stayed in in Arkansas. In addition, we were able to take advantage of a special half price discount. Such a deal!See more..
4.5Bord Du Lac Park(62 reviews) - Wonderful Park off I-10 by Lake Charles Parks
We enjoyed their military memorial with a Tank, Helicopter, Soldier and Memorial to the 5 Branches of the military. Bord Du Lac Park has a Splash Pad which would be nice in the summer. There are lot of nice monuments like the Flying Geese, Clock and Sailor. There's a good play area for kids. There's a great view of the Bridge on I-10. It seems pretty well maintained. In late November, they had already put up Christmas decorations. Bord Du Lac Park is a nice place to stop for a break from drivingSee more..
Driving through a rural residential area, you wonder if there really is a state park at the end of the road. There is! And it's fabulous! From the park attendant on duty to the campsites that are nicely spaced apart, this one is a gem. Bathrooms and laundry facilities were clean. A plus that the washer/dryers We would definately return (and book site #29) if we are in the area again.See more..
Very nice park ~ close enough to walk off raspberry cobbler from the Cracker Barrel. I visited in the evening so it was a little dark and creepy by myself, but it was nice to feel like I had gotten away from town if only for a few minutes. Would recommend checking it out.See more..
Very nice and well maintained Park. I will say it is very tight maneuvering through the park and getting into a site with a large rig. We are about 65 feet with the dolly and car in tow. We made it but not a lot of fun. For a 40-foot rig I, think you'd be fine. Park is not real big and kind of quaint. Even if you're not back by the river it's, a short walk. Would definitely stay here again and recommend.See more..
Thankfully the tent camping spots and RV spots are separate. I enjoyed my view from a primitive spot along the reservoir. Nice and quiet and such a nice view when I woke up. The park is clean, safe, well planned. The restroom and laundry facilities are well maintained. There is a small beach and a few nice hiking trails. There is also a playground for young children near the RV spots.See more..

4.0Bogue Chitto State Park(41 reviews) - Beautiful, quiet and relaxing destination State Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas
We took our camper trailer up to the state park this past weekend and had a great time. The upland campground was our spot and each location has a wood deck with a picnic table and fire ring (yes you can burn wood and have roasted marshmallows). The spaces are large and even have a tent pad in case you have friends with you. I really enjoyed that we were not on top of each other, you could enjoy the feeling of being in the outdoors. Their were plenty of options for recreation too: horseback riding, walking trails, bike trails, playgrounds, a small waterpark, fishing, canoeing, and picnic spots. The Dutch Oven club cooked in a covered pavilion and you could taste their foods at noon. They are there the 2nd weekend of each month. Great fun and value!See more..
What a Great Park we had some issues with our 5th wheel and needed to stay a fe more days the Ranger was so very helpful... When we left my husband realized that he had left his expensive Bike by the Picnic table at our spot we called and the Ranger went to our site and pt it in her truck and brought it up to the office.... She sure went the extra mile for us, THANK U. The Park is so clean and quiet, space in between sites.See more..

3.5Prehistoric Park(31 reviews) - It's no Jurassic park Amusement & Theme Parks
My 4 year old boy loves dinosaurs and since Jurassic world came out its been non stop Dino's. We were looking for something to do before the kids started school. We saw this on the internet and said why not. When you get their you drive down road you see some electrical fences with a sign that says danger and though the tree you see a T. rex. The prices were a little on the high side especially after we walked though You walk along a path and ever so often there is a dinosaur statue it has a info bored talking about the Dino. Out of all the Dino's only five move while your outside and you can hear varies Dino's roar. When you reach the end you go through a door and their is about 4 Dino's that move and roar as you pass that's it You can walk the path as many times as you like their a picnic area and a swing set for the kids to play. They also serve hot dogs and hamburgers, drink and have a Dino gift shop. See more..
4.0Lake End Park(30 reviews) - Respite from the cold Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Beaches • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks
Large park with lake access, small beach. Sites gravel, fairly level, large screened room not reservable so you risk having other people and kids in and out if you're having a get together there. The bathrooms and laundry are inside that same building. Bathrooms clean, rusty fixtures. Laundry definitely needs improvement. Most were out of order and washers didn't always drain completely. Staff nice. Nobody to keep the noise level down at night. Park is adjacent to a main road, so lots of street noise. See more..

4.0Lake Bistineau State Park(28 reviews) - Lake Bistineau Park, LA Campground rating Wednesday: 6:00 AM - 9:00 PM State Parks
We drove to LBSP strictly as a short outing, not to camp or fish, and the scenery and peaceful surroundings made the trip well worth it. To enter the park it's necessary to register at the entrance, which is a simple procedure thanks to the friendly personnel at the administrative office. Prices are reasonable: $2 per adult, and free for adults age 62 and above. Once inside the park the roads are paved and in good condition; the family sedan will navigate the park without a problem. Signage is sufficient so it's easy to find your way around. Scenery is green and watery, with lots of Spanish moss adorning the trees. Birds, squirrels and turtles abound. White tail deer are about, although you'll not see them during the middle of the day. There are walking and biking trails...bring your insect repellant if the weather is warm! There are equestrian trails available for those with horses...but a good idea to call ahead instead of just showing up pulling your trailer. There are no concessions within the park other than a soft drink machine at the administrative office, so if you'll be there long enough to want snacks or beverages pack your own...just be sure not to litter the grounds. There are restroom facilities in camping areas Others have commented on the camping facilities and they are certainly abundant at LBSP, as well as comfortable cabins. But if you simply want a place to enjoy the semi-primitive scenery with the sounds of waterfowl, cicadas and an occasional fish slurping up an insect the park is still an enjoyable way to spend a few hours.See more..

4.5The Grove(24 reviews) - Very majestic Spent 1-2 hours Parks
The park is beautifully lit for the holidays with horse and carriage rides. The music in the background is very nice and the Grove is very Busy with families taking pictures and little ones running about but it is not overly crowded and everyone is polite and in the Christmas spirit. The water fountains add to the scenery and there is a little library box that you can borrow books from and donate books too. Perfect place to visit while in this little town.See more..
We camped here for two nights to do some road bike riding from the park to St. Martinsville and back. The weather was fantastic. It was very relaxing because there was not any good cell/internet service so we got a chance to not be glued to our phones and spend time talking. The office staff was very helpful when checking in and paying for the campsite. There was water everywhere and so were the mosquitoes. Be aware that Barred Owls are very loud owls at night. They let you know you are in the woods. The showering facility was convenient.See more..
If your looking for a peaceful place to be one with nature, this is a must. The park is dedicated to Morgan City’s one time Mayor “Doc” Brownell and has a short walking trail through the swamp that leads to Lake Palourde. This park is totally secluded and in my opinion kinda hard to find which makes it pretty special. It’s also a photographers dream. There’s no telling what you will encounter while visiting but hopefully you will be there to hear the bells. Truly beautiful !See more..
I drove down to Louisiana for a book signing and my hotel was in New Iberia. I wanted to see the water and so drove down to this park. Granted it was February and cold to most people, so it was deserted. But the park was beautiful and clean. I could see how this would be a wonderful place to stay or swim when warm. it was a bit eerie when deserted, but a beautiful place nonetheless. There were charming accommodations at the park I was intrigued by. Charming cabins set atop stilts.See more..

I’ve been eating my way thru Lafayette as I’m in town for work and decided I needed some exercise. Looking for some hiking trails nearby and found this place. It’s a nice park with tennis & basketball courts, playground, soccer fields, 18-hole frisbee golf course, picnic areas and of course hiking trails. Some of the trails share with bikes so be on lookout. Great interwinding system of trails. Great to just explore. A lot of elevated boardwalks through the woods. There’s also camping and the nature center for info. Canoe launches. Just a great place to visit. One disappointing thing was a lot of trash laying in parking lot. But other than that had a great time and will definitely be back. See more..

Every year in October, we have our family reunion from Friday through noon Sunday. This is the perfect place for a large reunion such as ours. The children love being able to be outdoors and the playground area is wonderful. Some love being able to fish off the piers and watching for deer and other wildlife. The full kitchen and dining area is large enough to accommodate all of our families. There have been a lot of remodeling and upgrades to the area in the past few years. The retreat area has enough dorms to house all the families that attend the weekend event and it is very affordable. Wonderful place to just kick-back and enjoy. See more..

4.5Louisiana State Arboretum(16 reviews) - Hiking in a natural growth forest! Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM State Parks
We spent a couple of hours in this beautiful natural area. The naturalist who led our hike was knowledgeable and responsive to our group's many questions. She pointed out such interesting trees, including the "toothache" tree, the Devil's Walking Stick, and the Horse Sugar three. We even tasted the leaf of the last one, noting its sour apple flavor! We saw armadillos rooting in the ground, and a couple of deer wandered by while we walked the boardwalk. The Visitors Center has informative exhibits and the signage along the way was superb! If you're in this area of Louisiana, it's definitely worth a trip!See more..
