The fish at this time of the year are scattered and harder to fish, but our captain Jerry put us on some fish and we ended up with a nice catch of 58. Let me start by saying this is our second time visiting Griffin Charters. Each time is better than expectations! This last trip was with my wife, sister and son. The fishing was awesome, we hit the weather conditions and the fish activity about perfect and our guides knew exactly how and where and to go. Colby, Chris and Gage are three of the best guides we have had the opportunity to fish with and to say they are professional, knowledgeable and driven to exceed expectations is an understatement! Not only did we limit out both days of fishing we also had the opportunity to go after some big fish and not only found them but landed more than one! Just an awesome trip! As usual the food from my favorite chef, Joe, was spectacular and not only is he a great cook but a really nice guy to talk with and share some local knowledge. We fished with Bourgeois for 3 days in late April. This was our 4th fishing trip with them.We were greeted when we arrived and after coffee and a delicious breakfast , we boarded Capt. Kevin's skiff for the short run down the bayou into the marsh.In spite of the heavy winds, Capt. Kevin put us on a productive spot, out of the wind, and we caught numerous redfish, black drum and sheepshead. We had a great 3 day trip! The best thing about fishing with Bourgeois is that Josie always gets everything right! Things always happen just as planned. They have the best Captains, boats and equipment. Absolutely amazing day on the water with Captain Chad and Mate Barrett. They were a seamless team. There were four of us, we had eight tuna on the boat very quickly. Set out for a swordfish afterwards (our dynamic duo had brought 160 pounder in the day before) No luck there but who’s complain and after what we already had in the boat! Highly highly recommend. Fished with Joey. Wanted to tuna fish but Joey was more interested in catching mahi and orher misc fish. He informed us in the am that he had stayed up too late drinking and felt lousy. I feel that when we pay for a charter the captain should not be hung over and give 100 percent to his charter. Another complaint is he seems to not care about your comfort. We had about 3-4 ft seas and he would run at 45-50 mph. Everyone got beat up. Not once did he ever ask if anyone was comfortable. I could keep going on about how unprofessional Joes is as a captain but u get the picture If I could give u a little advice Joey please pay more attention to your clients requests and comfortSee more..
Bottom line, we caught fish! And that was because Capt. Joe V. new where to find them. His boat was clean and well maintained (immaculate is a word that comes to mind). There were 3 men in my group. I would suggest no more than 4 adults, but I personally felt comfortable with only 3 and wouldn't want any more than that. We never had to bait a hook or rig a line. Joe took care of everything. To top it off, all of our fish were cleaned and zip locked for us in a matter of minutes. We did not limit out, but we were informed not to expect to going in. For me, no big deal. I can eat for weeks or even a couple months off of my catch. Overall a great experience, exceeding our expectations.See more..

If you don't want a condescending, patronizing guide don't use Greg Dini. He clearly is an experienced guide but expects you to be as good as him, criticizing your every cast without instruction. If you want to have fun flyfishing and learn something find another guide. He would be horrible instructing kids.See more..

Myself and 5 other family members fished with Captain John and mate Anthony on October 5, 2019. I can't say enough good things about them! Our boat was the 42' Conch and it was awesome! The captain had us on fish within 10 minutes of getting to the first rig we fished. We limited out on yellow fin within two hours. After limiting, we deep dropped for swordfish and caught a 151 pounder and lost another one. Besides the fishing, the Lodge is also amazing, it is clean, comfortable and has everything you could want/need in a lodge setting. We highly recommend Home Run charters and will definitely fish with them again soon!See more..

Totally amazing time. My wife had never fished before and Capt Rick was so patient and taught her everything. The food was amazing! Everyone was just top of the top. Had my son (21) with us and he had a blast! We killed it in redfish. My wife on the first stop got a 33" red that she had no idea how to work and the Captain was working with her the whole way. So much fun to fish and see all the beautiful Southern Louisiana sites and catch our limit in reds and a lot, lot more. Can't wait to go back. We had the pleasure of staying the night and enjoying the great hospitality of Capt. Rob DuPont with Impulse Fishing Charters,the camp was extremely clean and well maintained. The brand new Blue Wave was very clean with top of the line equipment and very nice tackle awaiting our departure. Capt. Rob was very knowledgeable of the area and put us on double trout at the crack of dawn. Capt. Rob showed us different places to fish and taught me how to read the sonar chart on his Lowrance HDS12. After a great day of fishing we headed in with a very nice limit of speckled trout. When we got back to his camp he cleaned and bagged all of our fish and we were on our way home. I already have my next trip scheduled with Capt. Rob DuPont with Impulse Fishing Charters and I would advise you to do so very soon.See more..

I booked Capt. John for a speck/red trip for my son and I the last week of May. Oh man the fishing was tough that week on Grand Isle! The weather has stirred everything up and everyone was working hard for every fish. To say Capt. John saved our trip is understating it. Capt. John put us on some fish! Very patient with my son who was fishing saltwater for his first time. Also an outstanding communicator, keeping us informed with the how, what, where, and why's during the trip. Fished in early September 2013 for a bachelor party on the Strike Zone. The overnight trip for big tuna was excellent catching a slew of black fin and yellow fin. Dinner (steak) and lunch (jambalaya) were provided. I will say you better be ready to fight some fish and be ready to wrestle the big yellows ( i wouldnt do this if you and your group arent prepared to fight large tuna 50+ lbs!!). The captain and deck hands were excellent and attentive to what we wanted to catch and our needs on board. There are showers and restrooms on board for comfort. The cabin was fully air conditioned with flat screen satellite which was a relief in the September heat. We watched football during our run offshore. I'd also recommend you rest as much as possible on the way out to prepare for the tuna wrastlin'.See more..

We had 20 people in our party, consisting of children, teens, adults and seniors. The deckhands were able to keep up with our needs, by helping bait, get fish in, tie hooks, and ultimately by cleaning our catch. I just came back from another outstanding trip with Mark Huse, the owner of Hackberry Charters. Mark is one of the nicest and best guides I have fished with. I have been fishing with Mark for over a decade and it only gets better. This last trip was with temperatures hovering just above freezing to start the morning. That did not matter, but the end of the first day we caught over 45 Redfish, keeping our 5 fish per person limit and releasing the rest. It was an awesome day of catching! The next day we had similar results. Mark has fished Calcasieu and Sabine his whole life and knows the seasons and patterns as well as any fisherman on the lake. His personal easy going style, along with his personal attention to every part of the day is outstanding. There are bigger charter outfits on Calcasieu, but none of the personal touch Mark can bring. We went for an overnight Tuna trip and it was a blast. Everyone had plenty hook ups and tuna landed throughout the night. On the way in from the tuna fishing the fun had just started back once the sun was up, we hit some mahi mahi fishing but might as well call it mahi mahi catching because that’s how it seemed. We caught fish after fish. Lastly, we dropped some lines for snapper and grouper while continuing our journey back into the dock. Thoughthe day was a bit rough due to the winds, and the water choppy, Pete kept us dry and onto the fish. We landed about thirty fish that day, including our limit of redfish.
