Quick notes before the review! 1) Cash is a cheaper option than using a card so come prepared. 2) Consider the time of year if you are looking for alligators. This should have occurred to me, duh. The tour at Champagne’s was great fun. The tour guide Jason was knowledgeable and was very gracious about my son’s many questions. The lake itself is quite scenic and the bird life is active even in the winter. I recommend the stop!See more..
My husband and I were visiting New Orleans for the first time and were looking for a day in the Bayou to experience that part of Louisiana. Honey Island Kayak Tours provided exactly the experience we were looking for! Mike picked us up on time from our hotel in New Orleans and provided history and restaurant suggestions on the commute. Jessica had a ton of local knowledge because she is a local who absolutely loves the land and water that we toured with her as well as its history. As a bonus, we were able to check Mississippi off our list of states that we had yet to visit. I highly recommend this tour!See more..
4.5McGee's Louisiana Swamp & Airboat Tours(158 reviews) - Captain Jack is the best Tour Guide Wednesday: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM Boat Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours • Kayaking & Canoeing
My husband’s sister and her family were visiting from out of town. They wanted a true Louisiana bayou experience. We decided on a whim to do McGee’s swamp tour and had a blast!! Captain Ryan was the best!! He was very knowledgeable about life in the swamp and provided plenty of interesting natural history about the vegetation, birds, fish, and most importantly the alligators!! We saw over a dozen alligators and he drove the boat so close I could see individual scales!! It was such an amazing experience. I highly recommend Captain Ryan and McGee’s Swamp Tour for your family and visitors.See more..
During COVID - it was a great way to celebrate my birthday without getting too close or in a crowd. It's an experience I won't forget. It was an adventure for the teens and romantic for the adults. The paddle back in darkness was so exciting with owl sounds and EYES everywhere. Bring bug spray, grab a substantial snack at the rental location, maybe a couple of beers.See more..
5.0Calmwater Charters(63 reviews) - Fantastic fishing and company Wednesday: 5:00 AM - 8:00 PM Boat Tours • Fishing Charters & Tours • Kayaking & Canoeing
Captain Danny took me out for a great day of kayak fishing for reds (January). He is the pioneer of this kind of fishing in Grand Isle and knows exactly what to do! We fishing several spots before finding the right place to really nail them. Fun day with lots of great conversation and learning for me. Would definitely do it again - thanks Danny.See more..
My daughter called last week to make a reservation for Tuesday. The guy called me back to confirm what we needed and the prices. He said they stopped taking people out at 11:30 so I assured him we would be there Tuesday morning around 9. Tuesday morning, my husband called to make sure we could bring our dog and he told my husband he didn’t have any reservations for today because he was closed. My husband told him I spoke to him last week, and the man continued to insist he did not give me a reservation. Then it changed to something about a graduation. My husband finally just hung up the phone.See more..
4.5Louisiana River Adventures(6 reviews) - River floats for Father’s Day River Rafting & Tubing • Kayaking & Canoeing
We had a really fantastic time on the river today. We did the two hour float (plus stopping for at least an hour on one beach and stopping for a shorter time on a second beach very close to the end of the float). Our group was with 7 adults and 7 kids (ages 6-15). Definitely bring an ice chest (no styrofoam allowed and no glass bottles) and drinks, snacks, waterproof speaker and sunscreen and hats. We all had a really nice time. Don’t forget cash to avoid a credit card fee. And we did bring/ use string to tie a couple of floats together and a person’s float to the ice chest float. There are some places you do have to use your arms to paddle out of the way of the debris, but overall it was smooth floating. Staff was very friendly and the place was very efficient. The longer 4 hour float trip would be, in my opinion, a better ride for us without kids. We will be back!See more..
