Quick notes before the review! 1) Cash is a cheaper option than using a card so come prepared. 2) Consider the time of year if you are looking for alligators. This should have occurred to me, duh. The tour at Champagne’s was great fun. The tour guide Jason was knowledgeable and was very gracious about my son’s many questions. The lake itself is quite scenic and the bird life is active even in the winter. I recommend the stop!

Well worth it.
Not the best time of year to take this tour but Jim did a great job of searching out as many birds and alligators as one could expect inFebruary. Certainly if you are in the area in season this tour is well worth the price. There use of flat bottom boats compared to Air Boats is a much better way to glide through the swamp in my estimation.

Swamp Boat Tour was great fun.
We took a swamp boat tour in late February and it was a great experience, principally because of our guide, Jonathan. He was expert at manuevering the boat and pointing out wildlife. He was also knowledgable about plant life and history and behaviors of some of the species we saw. We saw many gator noses (it was a little cold for them to be very active) and quite a few birds we don't see every day. Jonathan always paused for picture taking if anyone wanted. He was humorous, too and although you could tell some of the jokes were made on every tour, he did not seem to be just going through the motions with a standard routine. The tour lasted an hour and it seemed like we were in another country if not on another planet, the bayou was so quiet and magical. Highly recommend the tour. Note: they very much prefer cash payment and at least for now you have to phone to find out times--they weren't listed on the website.
