My daughter is a Sr at LSU and we both have loved her time there. Baton Rouge is a great town with lots to do. LSU campus is in a residential area around a lake and is a perfect size.
    We will miss it

    Acadian Cultural Center image
I brought a large group of college students from Texas to this museum on Oct. 15. We watched a historical film on the Acadian expulsion from Nova Scotia, bought many souvenirs from the gift shop, and spent some time exploring the many informative exhibits in the main part of the museum. These cover many topics of the history, current life and culture of the Cajun people. It contains priceless photos depicting regular people and well-known Cajun artists. I loved the inclusion of French and English in the exhibits. See more..

Nicholls is along Bayou Teche, in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana in the city of Thibodaux. It is beautiful, and a wonderful place to send your children. It is safe, the professors care as do the people of Thibodeaux. I just enrolled my son there. All undergraduates live and eat on the campus. The university is safe, the professors care about the students. Tutors are available for any student in any class. The professors are willing to spend time with the students who might need help also. The school is in a small town which is away from the big cities . College athletics are played. Programs are available for students with ADHD. The food is excellent. See more..

National Fish Hatchery & Aquarium image
We like fish hatcheries so decided to check this one out. The grounds have an aquarium, office, educational building and project buildings and 53 ponds where they raise catfish, largemouth bass, sunfish for stocking in Louisiana waters. The project leader/biologist, Brett was kind enough to offer to take us on a tour. He showed us the area where they spawn and develop the Louisiana pearlshell mussel and the area where they help restore Alligator snapping turtles. The aquarium is small but nicely done and it is cute how they name some of the fish and alligators in the displays. We walked around the ponds and saw many birds. A great place to learn about what hatcheries do. Call ahead to see if someone is available to give a tour. See more..
