  12. 4.0 Washington Museum and Tourist Center (7 reviews)
    - Did not expect in a small town.
    Visitor Centers
Went to Washington to eat at the Steamboat and to shop in the antique stores in the old school. Did not think of the museum so our schedule did not allow the time necessary to enjoy all it has to offer. History of this area is quite interesting as at one time the Mississippi River actually flowed past Washington and it was the home of many of the old steamboat captains. The Museum reflects this history quite well from what we saw. Our next trip to Washington will include the museum in our schedule so that we have ample time to explore all it has to offer. Price is right as no charge for admission and there is quite a bit of free parking. See more..

Building materials were salvaged during construction to reuse for the creation of an art exhibit and functional pieces to be shown and utilized within the center. This project was completed by area artists, craftsmen and students. Travelers are also introduced to the various ecosystems found within the area. The landscape design plays an integral part in this project utilizing indigenous plantings and trees from St. Landry Parish, reflecting several of Louisiana's ecosystems. Our Our travel counselors are ready to provide group or individual tours of the facility. We look forward to seeing you in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana! See more..
