I loved seeing the old Dixie movie house...looked just as nice as it was in the 60's. and the lobby houses the temporary home of the Wible Family Quilts- a fine collection of quilts. We enjoyed every minute. I even explored the balcony! Beautiful with a huge chandelier over sea the entire movie house. I don't think they show the movies anymore, but have theatrical plays now, a community event, held regularly. See more..

I love this place. It is my new favorite live music venue. There are a great many reasons why I hold such fondness for it. Let me count the ways. It’s typically free. I’d venture to say that about 99% of its live music performances are free. They don’t cost a dime to attend. Sweet! It’s typically all ages. Can’t get a babysitter? Bring the kids! This place is family friendly, as are most acts that perform here. Check the listings but it seems a vast majority of the shows here are for one and all regardless of age or wisdom. It’s fantastic really, coupled with the free entry, the kids in accompaniment won’t set your wallet or purse on fire just by their mere attendance. It’s a safe outdoor venue. Well lit. Well patrolled. Early shows. Most shows seem to start around 6 and are over by 11. It’s really one of the safest live music venues in the area. There are very popular restaurants right there on premise, among them BeauxJax Crafthouse and The Frozen Pirogue. So, the area is very busy, lots of families, a good, safe time for all. Parking can get pretty full, but it is free, it is available close by in lots and on the street, and you will find it. There are also paid parking options as well. There is a variety of live music genres that perform here. Local acts as well as national touring acts. Mostly rock in its many formats as well as country and western. When I think back on the summer of ‘22, this place will often come to mind, as I’ve seen two shows here already this season and I have plans to attend others. In a time where gas prices are ruh-donk-u-luss, I will staycay here mostly, and I mean here, specifically, as I will be here most often and let the bands just come to me. I just wish this place was closer to where I live. See more..
