4.5Shoshone Falls(2.015 reviews) - Running full force, spectacular. Waterfalls
What a great show. We purchased tickets for the the light show. They may have over sold because there was an enormous crowd however organizers managed the traffic well. I’m sure glad we had a handicap plaqard as my mom is elderly and unable to walk distances. The light show was pretty. We decided to come back in the early morning 8:00 AM to see the falls in daylight. I’m glad we did. Only a few people were there, we had the place to ourselves and the falls were spectacular.See more..
5.0Mesa Falls(419 reviews) - Great views! Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Waterfalls
There is a $5 entrance fee if you don't have a federal lands pass. There are vault toilets with running water not too far away. The walk to the Upper Falls is about 0.4 miles return with lot of stairs that take you close to the falls. The Lower Falls can be accessed by a 2-mile return nature trail hike or go back to the main road and drive a short distance. The sign is past the exit. The walk to the Lower Falls is a very short one from the parking lot. There's also a vault toilet there.See more..
Beautiful walk along the river. We were staying nearby after visiting Yellowstone and decided to walk around in the morning before leaving; really glad we did. The views of the river, falls, and downtown are all amazing. They also have a lot of unique/weird benches and sculptures around the river walk.See more..
4.5Falls Park(119 reviews) - Great local park Spent 2-3 hours Hiking Trails • Dams • Waterfalls
This is a wonderful local park. It is located on the river/lake/falls. There are signs telling about the history of the site, the 2 sawmills, 3 dams and a grist mill. These were in production from 1905-1995. If you are not interested in history. There is a small lake where I saw people fishing off of the bridge. The play area was under construction. There is a trail that skirts the outside of the park. When I was there the dam was open and water was flooding out of it.See more..
4.0Twin Falls(64 reviews) - Beautiful in the Spring, Disappointing in the Fall Spent 1-2 hours Waterfalls
This canyon is absolutely beautiful. The rock cliffs and the bridge are amazing. It's one of the few places in America where you can parachute off a bridge in the US, and that's fun to watch too. The twin falls are beautiful when there is water flowing. But once the spring rains and winter melt are gone, there is no water fall to enjoy. See more..
4.5Goldbug Hot Springs(51 reviews) - Strenuous hike but totally worth it! Bodies of Water • Waterfalls
Drove to Goldbug from Sawtooth (~1.5h drive) before sunrise. Arrived at the trailhead at 8am, took us ~40min to hike to the top. Arrived at the hot spring before 9am and there were already many people there. Many folks camped in the park. There are only about 6 pools! I highly recommend getting there before 8am. Kids and families started to arrive around 10am. Spectacular view and the hot spring is amazing! The pools are also deep enough to soak your entire body in. FYI people do not practice social distancing there! So go early to avoid the crowds! See more..
4.5Jump Creek(23 reviews) - Short hike. Big rewards. Waterfalls
Short hike. Big rewards. Regardless of when you go, and even though it is a short hike, this is the outdoors and you should be prepared. Whether you encounter poison ivy, ice on the trail, rattlesnakes, extreme heat or frigid temperatures, you are far from a town. We were there in winter and the trail was very slick and steep in spots. Other folks we encountered had to turn back, but we came prepared and had a great time!See more..
So the falls was nothing special, but we found the perfect sandy bar where a creek flowed into the Selway. Beautiful 17 mile drive - one way - to the falls on mostly good gravel roads. Be careful since it’s really one lane gravel roads with turnouts for cars to pass. Caught two nice chunky cutthroats in the productive river.See more..
4.5Pillar Falls(16 reviews) - The hike is nit for everyone. Spent 2-3 hours Waterfalls
So I hiked down and back out.staered with family but they turned around after 100 yards. Sore but great experience. Loved the views and the rock formations. Beautiful to see the power if nature. See more..
This was the perfect hike in a beautiful May morning. Take the left fork past the entrance to Centennial Park. Drive to the end of the road and walk a very short distance down the gravel road to the first dirt path. There is a small, knee-high sign that's easy to miss (Homestead Trail). Trail is easy with a few grades through beautiful meadows surrounded by awesome cliffs You can go off trail to see more of the Snake River but keep coming back to the main trail so you don't get turned around. We walked to the old abandoned bridge and then took the road back which took an hour plus but you can walk all the way to the falls. Highly recommend. No shade so take a hat.See more..
4.5Caldron Linn(5 reviews) - intimidating and spectacular Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails • Waterfalls
Not much has changed since 1811: The area is still natural and untamed, and you won’t find safety features like guardrails or paved paths. Upstream, anglers will find great bass fishing; downstream, daring kayakers will find Class IV and IV rapids with huge drops.See more..
5.0Fall Creek Falls(3 reviews) - Very pretty Spent < 1 hour Waterfalls
Fall Creek Falls was easy to find and very pretty. It was also surprisingly crowded. Many of the better views of the falls are only accessable by climbin a rope up and down steep terrain, but it was definitly worth the visit.See more..
4.0Sheep Falls(1 review) - A nice walk in the woods to a waterfall. Waterfalls
Sheep Falls is a 2.6 mile drive off highway 20 on a gravel/dirt road to the trail parking lot and about a 2 mile round-trip walk. It is a pretty falls surrounded by lava formations. The road is in pretty good condition this year, but some years it has been terrible. I would not recommend trying to get in after a heavy rain even now. The trail is downhill to the river, so it's uphill all the way back. Our walk in yesterday took about an hour round-trip including about 20 minutes enjoying the view and taking pictures. It is OK for kids...many friends have taken this walk with their families. Although not as large a falls as the Upper and Lower Mesa Falls a short distance down river, Sheep Falls gives you a nice walk with far fewer tourists. You may even have it all to yourselves,See more..
