4.5Boise Train Depot(155 reviews) - Great view of downtown Boise Wednesday: Historic Sites
We happened to drive down the road where the depot sits and just had to stop there. It was twilight and no one was there so we did not see the inside. We enjoyed looking at the large locomotive outside and walking around the small park (Platt Gardens) in front of the depot. Looking out from the park, there is a wonderful view of downtown Boise looking down the street at the state capitol.See more..
4.0Minidoka National Historic Site(88 reviews) - Learning from history. Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks
We stopped by early on a Saturday morning. Visitor center wasn't open for another month. But it is a part of history and one that should be more explored and learned from. Wind was blowing pretty good and quite chilly so we didn't stay as long as I would have liked. A return trip is warranted to explore the entire site.See more..

4.5Big Springs(31 reviews) - Pristine Nature Scene Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks
I and my family have been coming here (and bringing visiting family/friends) for 30 years. It's a gorgeous 10 minute ride from Highway 20. You head east from highway 20 from just south of the Henry's Fork River. Nowadays, someone has put up fish pellets in little candy dispensers. Feed the gargantuan fish, enjoy the pristine beauty all around you! This whole area is full of wildlife, so Look around! There's a boat launch area just to the west of the fish feeding area at the start of the spring. Well, we launch rafts and inner tubes, not boats. It's a fun float.See more..

3.5Fort Sherman(7 reviews) - Some correction about this historical site.... Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Military Bases & Facilities
Incorrect historical information information is given about this site and its namesake: General Wm Tecumseh Sherman was NEVER commander at the location reviewed, nor was he even posted there in any capacity. His visit to the area in late 1870's prompted the recommendation of the site for a U.S. fort. He visited later as well, but was never a commander. (P.S. I've lived in the area and worked on the college campus site for over 35 years and even researched some of its early maps at the National Archives in Washington, D.C.)See more..

5.0Eagle City Park(2 reviews) - Real Gold Experience! Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Mines
My family and I visited Eagle City Park because my wife wanted a genuine gold prospecting experience. It was truly a beautiful part of Idaho where the claim is located on Eagle Creek. The drive out there is worth the views. This experience is the real deal. After aa quick lesson on the panning equipment and use, the staff turned us loose on the claim. The staff was super friendly and helped the kids and I to a nice spot on the creek to dig up some pay dirt. My wife took to sifting and panning. Expect to be there for awhile and be prepared to get wet and dirty.. I highly recommend bringing water and food; there are limited available options at the site. The commodes are a short walk, so bring good shoes. This is genuine wilderness and there is the associated wildlife in the area (deer, elk, moose, bears, etc.), so keep an eye on your children. We didn't strike it rich, but we had a great time!See more..
