We walked the section of the Canyon Rim Trail from Shoshone Falls Park to the Evel Knievel Jump Site. Many of the views were stunning, but it was also very hot! Probably better to get an earlier start and carry lots of water. (I could easily have consumed 2 liters while walking.)See more..

4.5Falls Park(119 reviews) - Great local park Spent 2-3 hours Hiking Trails • Dams • Waterfalls
This is a wonderful local park. It is located on the river/lake/falls. There are signs telling about the history of the site, the 2 sawmills, 3 dams and a grist mill. These were in production from 1905-1995. If you are not interested in history. There is a small lake where I saw people fishing off of the bridge. The play area was under construction. There is a trail that skirts the outside of the park. When I was there the dam was open and water was flooding out of it.See more..
5.0Pulaski Tunnel Trail(96 reviews) - Nice short hike, watch the weather! Hiking Trails
I took my 13 year old son here. It is only 2 miles each way. We had some difficulties because of the snow and ice at this time of the year, but we made it with hiking shoes/boots and nothing else. Just watch your steps with snow and ice. We took a few falls where the ice was melting, water on ice isn't a pleasant mix!See more..
5.0Wood River Trail(50 reviews) - Great Backbone Rail Trail Biking Trails • Hiking Trails
This is an amazing old rail grade trail. We road it on tour bikes from Bellevue to Ketchum. Easy uphill grade this direction! 17 miles. We used it as the backbone return trip after ascending Cove Creek RD to Quigley RD to Hailey followed by Croy Creek/Rock Creek via Bullion to Glendale RD into Bellevue.See more..
This continues to be one of our favorite hikes near CdA as it takes us only about 20 minutes to get here. The loop is about 2.7 miles as you do it counter clockwise. This is an excellent year round hike and we do this in winter as well wearing stabilicers if the trail is snow covered. Nice and forested throughout with minimal sun exposure. Children and dogs regularly do this hike so it's not difficult. There is a covered picnic table on the ridge about 1.2 mi from the trailhead. Parking is usually easy although on summer weekends the lot can be full and no parking is allowed along the highway.See more..

4.5Rock Creek Park(28 reviews) - Rock Creek Park, Twin Falls, ID Spent 2-3 hours Hiking Trails
There are actually two parks here and they are both lovely. One has RV and tent camping with a camp host on site the other is day use only. The river runs through both parks and there are plenty of trees for all day shade. We found it to be very clean with restrooms, Frisbee golf course, fishing and an excellent paved walking path. There was no day use fee. Camping fees are cheap.See more..
This is a wonderful hike, includes a variety of things to see. The hike starts off pretty easy, well maintained trail through a nice woods and at times near a beautiful creek. Upper part of the hike is much more challenging but well worth it. It is about 10 miles round trip to Sawtooth lake and back, wonderful views of the valley and alpine lake when you get toward the top, and Sawtooth lake is awesome. very nice places to stop and take a break and have lunch. Highly recommended.See more..
We visited Glenn's Ferry Idaho and discovered an unknown place where you can see the wagon ruts heading over the hill near Glenn's Ferry. There are no signs except at the ruts. REMARKABLE! The history of that little piece of land is inspiring. No one was there. We had lunch and talked about the pioneers and their struggle. Well worth the trip.Get directions from the Oregon Trail Museum or travel along the road north by the school, under the freeway, turn left on old oregon trail rd for a mile to pull out and marker on the right.See more..
Secluded, peaceful, and breathtaking beach area near campground. Stunning views from above and below. 4 wheel drive recommended. The road to get there is a narrow service rocky/dirt road. Small space to park. Worth the drive that feels to nowhere. Water temp was chill but tolerable.See more..

4.0Fishhook Creek Trail(8 reviews) - Really pretty with amazing views at the creek Spent 2-3 hours Hiking Trails
This is an easy trail from the trailhead parking lot near Redfish Lodge. A little over 4 miles out and back, easy for kids, mostly level and partly shaded. Leave before 10 am to secure a parking space and complete the hike before the temperatures rise. A lazy hike with a bit of exploring or snacking at the creek will take about 3 hours. Just after the creek is a box for a permits for day-hikers going past the wilderness boundary. Hiking boots are probably not necessary on this hike.See more..
4.5McKinnick Trail(8 reviews) - Nice trail with view of Lake Pend Orielle and Sandpoint, ID Hiking Trails
We hiked this trail on a cloudy day and the views were still great. It's an easy/moderate trail with rocks. The trailhead is close to town. If you are driving through town on a Saturday from May-Oct try to stop at the Farmer's Market for local produce, baked good and arts and crafts.See more..

Even though the entry says " private road", a second trip got us to the parking area ( very small area, so get there early). On two occasions, we encountered families on bikes scaling the trails. 4.5Caldron Linn(5 reviews) - intimidating and spectacular Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails • Waterfalls
Not much has changed since 1811: The area is still natural and untamed, and you won’t find safety features like guardrails or paved paths. Upstream, anglers will find great bass fishing; downstream, daring kayakers will find Class IV and IV rapids with huge drops.See more..

4.5Baker Lake(5 reviews) - July Wildflowers are Stunning Spent 1-2 hours Hiking Trails
We hiked here in mid-July. The drive to the trailhead and back was simply beautiful. And then the hike! More wildflowers than I've ever seen anywhere. And gorgeous views all around. Not as long as so many hikes in this area, so a great place to start.See more..
A fairly easy hike until last 3/4 mile. The trail pretty much ends and then the scramble begins. Fairly steep going at this point. As you get higher and closer to the like you want to be near the creek. Heading right puts you in the middle of a boulder field.See more..
4.5Henry's Fork Greenway(3 reviews) - Nice addition to the town of Saint Anthony! Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails • Jogging Paths & Tracks

4.5Goose Creek Falls(2 reviews) - A really pleasant hike Hiking Trails According to my hiking app, Goose Creek Falls is a moderately trafficed trail. We however had the place almost to ourselves. The only other person we came across was a woman walking her dog as we started the hike. The scenery was beautiful, but it's a little tricky to get to the bottom of the falls.See more..
4.5Hobo Cedar Grove(2 reviews) - 500 year old trees Hiking Trails
We spent a day hiking a couple different trails in this area which isn't real easy to find or get to without forest service maps. We saw two people at one trailhead and none at the other. Both trails take you into very old cedar forests that have lots of ferns covering the ground. These trees are HUGE and some were seedlings when Columbus discovered America. The first area we went to has an outhouse and picnic tables and the loop trail is quite easy and short. The second trail takes you to historic lumber camp remains including an old steam donkey still in place. Extremely peaceful and scenic part of Idaho.See more..
4.5Serenity Lee Trail(2 reviews) - Beautiful Lake Scenery Accessible to Everyone Spent 1-2 hours Hiking Trails
This paved multi-use trail follows US95 for about 5 miles between Sandpoint and Sagle. Two miles of the trail is elevated on the "pedestrian long bridge" across the Pend Oreille River, offering wonderful views of the river and Lake Pend Oreille. We visited in July and parked at City Beach in downtown Sandpoint, then we ate lunch at one of the cafes on 1st Ave. Next we walked to the trail head behind the Bonner County Courthouse (215 S. 1st Ave.). The trail begins next to a historic power house. We then followed the trail south onto a peninsula and the US95 bridge. The paved surface is wide and suitable for bicycles, wheelchairs, strollers, etc. Some educational signs along the way explain the geography of the area. There are even a couple of local bicycle shops in Sandpoint where you can rent a bike if you don't have your own; inquire at Greasy Fingers on N. 3rd Ave.See more..
4.0Crystal Mountain(1 review) - Gorgeous 360 degree View of Peyette National Park Spent < 1 hour State Parks • Hiking Trails • Geologic Formations We came up here with family who live in Boise. Crystal Mountain is a 6,929 ft / 2,112 m mountain peak near McCall, Idaho, United States. Based on peakery data, it ranks as the 1007th highest mountain in Idaho and the 14388th highest mountain in the United States. The nearest peaks are Bear Pete Mountain, Ruby Mountain, War Eagle Mountain, Chimney Rock, Marshall Mountain, and Squaw Point. It was a gorgeous day and we climbed to the top. Bring gloves as this mountain is made entirely up of Quartz and is very sharp and steep to climb, so you need to use your hands. Once at the top the views are spectacular. It is so peaceful and beautiful. It is a magical place and if you like geological formations this is a must see. We brought lunch and enjoyed a tranquil lunch as we were the only ones there.See more..

5.0Roman Nose Lakes(1 review) - worth the rough road to get here Hiking Trails
There are a few lakes in this area and a great hiking trail with awesome views of the lakes and the mountains. The drive is fairly long and at times rough and pretty much requires a rugged vehicle with some ground clearance and good tires. Location is generally north and west of Sandpoint ID off of about 3 forest roads. Allow a full day for driving and hiking in this area but it's worth it.See more..
5.0Gold Hill Trail 3(1 review) - Strenuous Spent More than 3 hours Biking Trails • Hiking Trails It is a bit farther down Bottle Bay Road than most of the guide maps say it is. 5.0Banks Beach(1 review) - A Little piece of heaven Spent 1-2 hours Beaches • Hiking Trails We were just driving down the highway, looking for a place to picnic and spotted a table and stopped. This was a charming little place. There are picnic tables nestled in the pine trees and the area slopes and goes down to a white beach on the river. The water is not deep but is crystal clear. It's perfect to play in and skip rocks into. There is a primitive bathroom provided. This is a perfect place to picnic or just go to for a small get away from the stress of life. Leaving Boise, ID, it's 37 miles out on highway 55 and is just before mile marker 78. There is a $3.00 day use fee from May - Oct and overnight camping is not allowed. We definitely would stop again.See more..
