Tackled the class 4 white water rafting trip today. Staff were very friendly right from the start. We felt confident in our guide (Andrew) as he took us down the River. He shared some history about the river, pointed out scenery, and told some good corny jokes. If you’re willing to have fun, enjoy the outdoors, and have some thrill then go on this trip! This is my third jet boat trip to Hell’s Canyon. By far the best. We had 7 of my family members on this trip. The guide and Captain Rick’s personal family history recounted during the day was a very nice touch. Becky was extremely attentive to customer needs was very engaging and a real delight. My father is 85 and his wife although younger does not get around as well. Becky made certain that they had all the extra help they needed at each stage of the trip without them feeling self conscious. Captain Rick had the best boat handling skills of any of the three commercial trips that I have taken. He was also more courteous to others on the river and worked hard to not take away from their experience on the water. I highly recommend River Adventures if you are looking into a trip up Hell’s Canyon. Next time we will try the lower Salmon.See more..

I wanted to try an early spring fishing trip before the summer crowds showed up. We booked two days of fishing on April 18th and 19th. The weather was horrid. Wind, rain, cold, etc. However, our guide Nate Burr was terrific. He rowed his butt off and put us on a lot of large Rainbows and Browns. We travelled from Miami, Washington DC and New York City to experience this adventure. I grew up in western Oregon and always heard of, yet never experienced the Snake River/Hells Canyon area. You must see it to believe it. We had grand visions of catching salmon and keeping enough for dinner, even planned a menu around it! Like Peyton said if it were easy it would be called “catching” rather than fishing. Honestly landing a salmon was secondary, getting to experience this part of the world made it worth the journey. Kudos to Peyton and Sean who had a boat load of amateurs; we kept them busy freeing snagged lines, untangling knots and countless other blunders. While not successful at catching salmon we did pretty good with the bass. My daughter, the NYC flight attendant was angler of the day, all we heard from her was “caught another one”. Rafting on a wilderness River was a bucket list item for me. Rafting with ASV on the Middle Fork of the Salmon river exceeded my expectations many times over. Brad, Diana, and the rest of the crew made the whole experience a pleasure. Working with Diana to make the arrangements was a breeze, even though our group grew from 2 to 6, just days before departing. On the river the rafting was exciting, and the scenery unbelievably beautiful. The Pampered Camping was awesome. The food prepared by the guides, was excellent. Three hot meals a day, plus appetizers. Tents with cots sleeping bags and pillows were set up when we arrived at camp each night. And, a big circle of camp chairs for games and conversation (Brad is a great story teller). I hope to do this again, and when I do I will go with Adventure Sun Valley.See more..

My 14yr old son, my father, and a good friend took a 4 day trip down the Rogue River. The guides were professional every second and were welcoming to everyone. Every day we stopped for lunch at a beautiful riverside campsite. Food, tables, and chairs were always set up before we arrived. We fished and rode rapids throughout the day. Guides stopped along the way to show us wildlife, waterfalls, and amazing views. Every night we stayed at a different lodge. Our family recently completed the Main Salmon trip with Rocky Mountain River Tours and it was fantastic. Our kids (10 and 14) were a bit nervous about camping for a whole week and a little scared that the rapids would be too adventours for them. By the last day they were both begging to stay longer and to paddle the rapids in one of the kayaks. All of the logistics were great, the food was amazing, the scenery was stunning and the activities were a blast. Our kids quickly made friends and we enjoyed getting to know the other parents and grandparents on the trip. By far the very best part of this trip was the guides. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond each day to make sure we were safe, comfortable and having fun. I especially appreciated that three of our six guides were women. It was awesome for my 10 year old daughter to have such amazing role models on this trip. They really inspired her to get out of her comfort zone and now she loves kayaking.See more..

Fantastic experience. We took a family trip with nine of “the boys” on a 3 day excursion. Everett, Jazz, and Zack are wonderful guides who fit right into our group and became part of the family. They went out of the way to make everyone from age 16 to 73 feel comfortable. The food was unbelievable with cheese and wine plates and salmon and steak…well above what our group of knuckledraggers was used to. The fishing was only okay but we were able to catch and release some every day. I recommend including the inflatable kayaks as they added a new dimension to the rapids and we were able to all try them at some point. I highly recommend going with these guys on any trip and only wish we would have done a longer one. We’ll be back next year.See more..

We caught sturgeon,bass, and trout.our guide{ Peyton} was very knowledgeable about the history of the canyon and how to catch fish. this was a family outing of 6 including two grand kids 12 and 16 who caught bass and trout. words can't explain how great experience this was. We sent out kids to the 1/2 day kids camp and they each caught at least 1 fish. They couldn't stop talking about their day and the fun they had with their 'guide', Tatum. Two days later they were still talking about her and how she helped them catch a fish. The ride on the bus was fun for them and they were so excited we ended up buying gear to commemorate the day. My family and I went during the Riggins Big Water Blowout! What an amazing time to go! We where so glad we booked with Rubicon Outfitters. We did 26 miles in about 3 hours total. If your looking for a thrill ride then the Salmon river in Riggins is one of the best. I've been down the river with other guides, but the guys from Rubicon are by far the best experienced. Hunter, Jesse and Ernie make it look like a breeze. The way they can navigate through giant rapids and huge wave trains is so much fun!!!! My favorite is definitely Ruby. The Salmon River near Stanley Idaho is one of few locations where you can drift fly fishing and white water raft on the same trip. The guide service provided lunch and all necessary equipment;they deliver on their promise. Ian the guide, gave advance notice on where to cast the fly line as the river pulled us downstream. The guide rowed the boat upstream to keep us in the sweet spots longer, untangled our fly lines and tied new fly onto the line without being asked. The guide keep us safe through white water and yet found the time to take pictures of us. The riverside lunch was was a welcome addition to a great day on the river. We stayed in Victor, ID for the month of July (2020) and really appreciated how nice the folks at this shop were. They set us (me and kids) with gear to fish in some nearby lakes and streams and we went out with them on two guided flatboat trips. Everyone was very helpful, good-natured, and patient. My daughter and I caught so many fish on our trip together that we had to sit down and rest for a while. Ask for Skylar or Dalton as guides. My son and I scheduled a fly fishing float with Robert as our guide. On the evening before our trip, Robert called and described less than ideal fishing conditions because of a recent rain and cloudy water. We rescheduled for the following day, hoping for better water conditions. We spoke to Robert the next evening, and he said the water was more clear, however, not ideal. So, we decided to cancel our float because my son and I only had these two days. I compliment Robert and give him a 10 out of 10! He could have said lets fish either day. I doubt if my son or I would have caught anything. This is what will cause me to schedule with Headwaters in the future. I say this is a great example of integrity. Robert could have said "Let's fish." Instead, he wanted us to have the best possible conditions and lost his fee but gained a follower (me) for the future!!See more..
My husband and I had visited Idaho for our honeymoon and I have spent every moment since then trying to get back. I wanted to take my mom and brother back as I knew that Covid Craziness would be less noticeable in a locale with fewer people, like Northern Idaho. While we are not fly fisherman, I really wanted to try a river float with lunch to show my family how quiet and beautiful Idaho can be. Aaron called and emailed with me before the trip to make sure that he was fully prepared for our visit. The wood boat was absolutely beautiful, and the water couldn't have been more calm. Aaron did all the work by telling us all about life in northern Idaho, about the history and ecology of the area, and gave us a beautiful lunch. It was hard for me to get the hook set correct after many years of fishing walleye, but with Eric's instruction, I was soon landing beautiful trout! We had the best fishing trip. Rob and Russ made our trip so enjoyable. Captain Rob was very nice and made us feel at home on his boat. Russ was everywhere during the whole trip, and was so helpful. From the start to finish we enjoyed every minute. The boat was very comfortable and had a nice ride. Our lunch of hot dogs/sausages was a nice surprise. My wife and I are 59 and 65, respectively. In the past two years we visited the Grand Canyon and then Yellowstone. We fell in love with the West. We noticed other tourist horseback riding in area's that were not available to us by car. Rather than hike, we wanted to horseback ride into the wilderness. After much research and price shopping, we decided on White Cloud. The price was right, the wilderness was right and the folks seemed right. With much trepidation, we arrived in Challis on Sunday night. The outfitter helped us find a quaint motel in town to get organized and in the morning, met our hosts and guide (Rick). The horses were gentle and we started up a 3 hour ride into the White Clouds. The scenery was amazing, and Rick was very helpful. When we arrived in our base camp, it was incredible. My wife and I had our own giant tent with a stove, wood, cots, mattresses, etc. Each day, we started with an incredible breakfast, made huge lunches, rode the horses to one amazing place after another, returned to a huge dinner, campfire and good company. Do NOT spend a lot of money elsewhere. This is the place to go.See more..
