I wanted to try an early spring fishing trip before the summer crowds showed up. We booked two days of fishing on April 18th and 19th. The weather was horrid. Wind, rain, cold, etc. However, our guide Nate Burr was terrific. He rowed his butt off and put us on a lot of large Rainbows and Browns. He was patient, funny, and very safe in some tricky conditions. My buddy and I enjoyed the two days very much and will come back again and again.See more..

Deb and Kevin were terrific. Really genuine people who provided an excellent family experience. One aspect of their business that I was especially appreciative of was their willingness to take my son, who is a very confident little 7 year old. I wanted him to have the experience of riding a horse in the county as I did when I was young and visiting the Tetons; Kevin quite honestly could not have been a better person for the task. He has a terrific combination of personality and patience. I also appreciated that when we got to our lunch spot he had three trained black bears in a tree waiting (just kidding, of course) - but the coincidence was uncanny. I loved that we still got off our horses and enjoyed lunch in that same spot despite the bears. My 7 year old quietly pulled out his swiss army knife in case he had to defend us. Our family recently completed the Main Salmon trip with Rocky Mountain River Tours and it was fantastic. Our kids (10 and 14) were a bit nervous about camping for a whole week and a little scared that the rapids would be too adventours for them. By the last day they were both begging to stay longer and to paddle the rapids in one of the kayaks. All of the logistics were great, the food was amazing, the scenery was stunning and the activities were a blast. Our kids quickly made friends and we enjoyed getting to know the other parents and grandparents on the trip. By far the very best part of this trip was the guides. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond each day to make sure we were safe, comfortable and having fun. I especially appreciated that three of our six guides were women. It was awesome for my 10 year old daughter to have such amazing role models on this trip. They really inspired her to get out of her comfort zone and now she loves kayaking.See more..

Our trip on the Middle Fork of the Salmon river with Idaho River Adventures was truly one of the best vacation of our lives (ages 61 and 64). The river and scenery were fantastic. The guides were warm and engaging, 100% on top of everything we encountered, and worked their asses off to set up our camps and cook excellent meals. We are 14 women who booked trips with ARC two years in a row, once in Hells Canyon and once on the Main Salmon. I can’t say enough good things about the owners and crew. The couldn’t have been more accommodating. All we had to do was have fun! Fantastic experience. We took a family trip with nine of “the boys” on a 3 day excursion. Everett, Jazz, and Zack are wonderful guides who fit right into our group and became part of the family. They went out of the way to make everyone from age 16 to 73 feel comfortable. The food was unbelievable with cheese and wine plates and salmon and steak…well above what our group of knuckledraggers was used to. The fishing was only okay but we were able to catch and release some every day. I recommend including the inflatable kayaks as they added a new dimension to the rapids and we were able to all try them at some point. I highly recommend going with these guys on any trip and only wish we would have done a longer one. We’ll be back next year.See more..

One of the best ways to enjoy Idaho’s Salmon River, regardless of the Fork. I think you go to do the Middle Fork, or The Main, thinking about Wilderness and the excitement of a fast flowing river, If you are planning on a river trip I would Highly recommend this fellas services. James is sharp to the point of making sure the guides and staff are in tune with both the river, as well as music, and clients. Safety is the issue, however food comes in a handsome second. We just got off a two week float down both the Middle then Main, James was accommodating to the Max, and I can’t tell you how much his staff made this trip so much more enjoyable. Amazing trip! What a wonderful experience for our family! There were eight guides for 22 of us and they were each so experienced and hard working, always polite and gracious with smiles on their faces. They did it all--guide, row the oar boats, supervise the paddle boat and kayaks, gave casting and fishing lessons, rescued another company's stuck "sweep" boat, pitched tents, cooked gourmet meals, played the guitar, threw horseshoes, and created a fabulous obstacle course game at camp one night. Allie was our trip guide and was superbly well prepared and experienced-easygoing but underneath, you knew she had it all under control. Would highly recommend this trip if you are looking for a rafting trip in the wilderness!See more..
Jet boat trip in Hell's canyon. We caught sturgeon,bass, and trout.our guide{ Peyton} was very knowledgeable about the history of the canyon and how to catch fish. this was a family outing of 6 including two grand kids 12 and 16 who caught bass and trout. words can't explain how great experience this was. We sent out kids to the 1/2 day kids camp and they each caught at least 1 fish. They couldn't stop talking about their day and the fun they had with their 'guide', Tatum. Two days later they were still talking about her and how she helped them catch a fish. The ride on the bus was fun for them and they were so excited we ended up buying gear to commemorate the day. They took a couple of pictures of the kids so we could see the fun they had and the smiles were ear-to-ear.See more..

My family and I went during the Riggins Big Water Blowout! What an amazing time to go! We where so glad we booked with Rubicon Outfitters. We did 26 miles in about 3 hours total. If your looking for a thrill ride then the Salmon river in Riggins is one of the best. I've been down the river with other guides, but the guys from Rubicon are by far the best experienced. Hunter, Jesse and Ernie make it look like a breeze. The way they can navigate through giant rapids and huge wave trains is so much fun!!!! My favorite is definitely Ruby. What a great experience! My son a group of friends and I had the opportunity to raft down the mighty Bruneau River with Barker River Expeditions, it was truly amazing. We had been looking at this trip for years after doing some research we determined Barker's had the most experience and a great reputation. We could not have been happier with our trip. The Bruneau river canyon is beyond words it must be experienced up close and in person. Jon and his guides are experienced, professional and incredibly knowledgeable. Barker's equipment was first rate. It seemed everything was the highest quality and built for with one purpose in mind navigating one of the most remote and beautiful rivers in the country. 6th river trip with ARTA, 3rd time down the Main Salmon! Once again, we had an excellent trip. This river is a "gem". There is big whitewater, swimmable eddies, great scenery with plenty of wildlife, white sandy beaches where you can sleep under the stars. The food is healthy and super delicious! ARTA's guides are first rate - safety is always first, but to a one, every guide we have had has been personable, knowledgeable, kind and responsive. It's hard to put to words the feelings that came from being on this trip. Five days of being unplugged, of briefly living in such a beautiful landscape, of having new adventures and making new friends—all of this contributed to creating something that felt akin to magic. As someone who had wanted to make this trip down the Middle Fork for at least a decade, I worried that I'd built everything up in my head but this far exceeded my expectations. This last September I visited Grand Teton national Park to be able to photograph the mountains and the valley when the aspens were changing. I was fortunate to be able to book another day with professional photographer Daryl Hunter who had led me on a photographic tour a couple of years before. My photo interests are primarily in scenic and wildlife. Wildlife can be iffy but Daryl put me on a nice six point bull and harem just after daybreak. The rest of the day was spent in the park and in Idaho. Daryl's interest is in having his clients go home with some real keeper photos and his intimate knowledge of the country will lead you to places you would probably never find on your own. My husband & I were on the same Peru Trek as Adventurous Kara in the review below. The vivacity & knowledge Elizabeth brought with her added to the group immensely. Even though she was on a scouting expedition for her future company trips, she took the time to lead us in yoga/meditation sessions before, during & after our daily treks. The sessions were amazingly restorative in that Elizabeth was attentive to each of our individual needs. She really surprised me when I developed a headache from the insect repellent I was using during our trek & relieved my grief after whipping out her oils to massage into my temples. I plan on taking some future trips with her company in Idaho simply because I think it would be amazing to combine a wilderness adventure with Elizabeth's mindfulness & knowledge of her yoga practice.See more..
