4.0Idaho Potato Museum(337 reviews) - Quirky, Informative and Fun Wednesday: 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality Museums
We stumbled on this after finding it on the Road Trippers app. It's quirky to have a museum dedicated to potatoes but it details the history of the potato along with how it's shaped agriculture in Idaho. There is also a restaurant there. We didn't eat there as we'd already had lunch but the food looked delicious. You can preorder a baked potato with all the good stuff like butter and bacon. It's a great place to stop on a road trip to stretch your legs and learn a bit about the potato.See more..

We planned a stop on a driving trip out west and my only regret was not allowing more time. There was so much history around cleaning things. The displays are so well done and it’s three stories worth of exhibits. If you have kids there is a large play area. Mr. Aslett was there and talked with us and he has an incredible story. It is an informative and fun museum to visit. Don’t miss it.See more..

We happened upon this historic complex in driving through Idaho. This complex contains several sights: a set of recreated western buildings (the Pocatello Junction), the Bannock County Historical Museum, and the Fort Hall replica. The staff was outstanding and very helpful. The Fort Hall replica is especially noteworthy. It contains several rooms with excellent displays. We particularly enjoyed the excerpts from actual letters of pioneers and settlers. The entire complex gives an outstanding portrayal of life 180 years ago. We recommend this complex especially for families.See more..
4.5Lemhi Historical Museum(31 reviews) - What a treat! Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Speciality Museums
We had read about the collections of this small museum and were delighted to find it as wonderful as reported. There is also an interesting display of a collection of Asian items collected by a man and donated to the museum. It's well worth a visit.See more..

4.0Jack O'Connor Center(24 reviews) - Good Museum, good people Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Speciality Museums
I recall the name well . He was one of the outdoor, hunting authors I read as a kid (in the fifties). He was from this area and often the people staffing this museum worked with or for him and might share anecdotes. He was strong willed and could be a little grumpy around the edges but he was also a nationally known editor and hunting advocate. He ran with the A list. The museum itself is also involved with local clubs, events and such. See more..
We really enjoyed our stop at the Lawson's museum. There are so many collectibles that it is impossible to mention them all. I would think there is something for everyone. We particularly enjoyed the artifacts from the town of Silver City which are now housed there. Mrs. Lawson gave us a tour of the site and she was most gracious and informative. It is well worth a stop if you are in the area. We think we were the first people from Atlanta to see it, but hopefully we won't be the last.See more..

On the recommendation of a resident we visited the Lost Rivers Museum. The curator gave us a wonderful tour. He had a hundred stories and was more than willing to share. Highlights were the moonshine and mining exhibits, as well as the projection system from the town theaters in the 1920s. But many more fine exhibits and photos of the old Mackay days and the people who settled the land. Fascinating glimpses into the past. It's not to be missed.See more..

We discovered this unique piece of history while wandering around Ketchum. The Ore wagons were lined up outside as if ready to be hitched up and move the ore. On going inside to read more on these it was interesting to find out that they are used annually for the parade during the Labour Day weekend, which was just a few days away. So we were lucky to see them out. Well worth a visit if you are in Ketchum, even better if you can see them being pulled by the 12 mules, would have loved to have seen this.See more..
