We travelled from Miami, Washington DC and New York City to experience this adventure. I grew up in western Oregon and always heard of, yet never experienced the Snake River/Hells Canyon area. You must see it to believe it. We had grand visions of catching salmon and keeping enough for dinner, even planned a menu around it! Like Peyton said if it were easy it would be called “catching” rather than fishing. Honestly landing a salmon was secondary, getting to experience this part of the world made it worth the journey. Kudos to Peyton and Sean who had a boat load of amateurs; we kept them busy freeing snagged lines, untangling knots and countless other blunders. While not successful at catching salmon we did pretty good with the bass. My daughter, the NYC flight attendant was angler of the day, all we heard from her was “caught another one”. The bass tasted great and made a fitting end to an excellent trip. Already planning next year’s adventure. See more..

We had an incredible alpine climb to the top of Mount Heyburn. We have done several hikes and climbs around the Redfish Lake area, and this was by far the best. Our guide, Matt Scrivner of Sawtooth Mountain Guides, was very determined to make sure we had an amazing experience on the mountain, and he was incredibly focused on our safety during the climb. We are definitely pleased that we chose to climb with Sawtooth Mountain Guides! See more..

Our family recently completed the Main Salmon trip with Rocky Mountain River Tours and it was fantastic. Our kids (10 and 14) were a bit nervous about camping for a whole week and a little scared that the rapids would be too adventours for them. By the last day they were both begging to stay longer and to paddle the rapids in one of the kayaks. All of the logistics were great, the food was amazing, the scenery was stunning and the activities were a blast. Our kids quickly made friends and we enjoyed getting to know the other parents and grandparents on the trip. By far the very best part of this trip was the guides. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond each day to make sure we were safe, comfortable and having fun. I especially appreciated that three of our six guides were women. It was awesome for my 10 year old daughter to have such amazing role models on this trip. They really inspired her to get out of her comfort zone and now she loves kayaking. See more..

    - Amazingly fun Salmon River Adventure

    OARS Dories image
Our mostly family group (generally retired with some 30 ish exceptions) of 21 wanted to adopt everyone of the 7 guides who lead us down the Main Salmon this August. The rafting (II's, III's and a few IV class rapids) and August water temperatures were the right match for our group, and the comradery built among family and guides was a highlight. OARS has hired some good, skillful, hard working people who are fun to be around. See more..

    - Amazing Adventure in the Wilderness of No Return

Amazing trip! What a wonderful experience for our family! There were eight guides for 22 of us and they were each so experienced and hard working, always polite and gracious with smiles on their faces. They did it all--guide, row the oar boats, supervise the paddle boat and kayaks, gave casting and fishing lessons, rescued another company's stuck "sweep" boat, pitched tents, cooked gourmet meals, played the guitar, threw horseshoes, and created a fabulous obstacle course game at camp one night. Allie was our trip guide and was superbly well prepared and experienced-easygoing but underneath, you knew she had it all under control. Would highly recommend this trip if you are looking for a rafting trip in the wilderness! See more..

We sent out kids to the 1/2 day kids camp and they each caught at least 1 fish. They couldn't stop talking about their day and the fun they had with their 'guide', Tatum. Two days later they were still talking about her and how she helped them catch a fish. The ride on the bus was fun for them and they were so excited we ended up buying gear to commemorate the day. They took a couple of pictures of the kids so we could see the fun they had and the smiles were ear-to-ear. See more..
  7. 5.0 Pioneer Outfitters (33 reviews)
    - Half-Day Ride w Morgan = 5 Stars!
Hiking & Camping Tours • Horseback Riding Tours
    Pioneer Outfitters image
We took a half-day ride (8:30am-11:30am) with our amazing guide, Morgan! We are beginner riders, and she made us feel super safe and reassured with tips and tricks to help manage our sweet horses Flint, Jeep, Speed, Clyde and Jasper. We climbed up the beautiful mountain leading up to Titus Lake, and Morgan was a wealth of knowledge, explaining the mining history of Galena, calling out the beautiful wildflowers, and answering our endless questions about horses. We walked around Titus Lake once we reached the top, she took some awesome pictures of our family on horseback, and then we headed down the mountain for even more stunning views. Would HIGHLY recommend Pioneer Outfitters, and if you go during the summer months, would suggest taking the morning ride— the weather was absolutely perfect with a light jacket. Thanks for such a memorable experience, Morgan! We will be back! See more..

Idaho Overland Adventures provided not only a peace of mind for safety they provided everything we needed to be successful on our 11 day trip. The vehicle is kitted out with almost every need thought through. It is really a plug and play package. We didn't have one single issue. And we already booked our next trip for 2023 to explore more of the backcountry of Idaho. If you are thinking about it, just do it. It is totally worth it. See more..

    - Added a restorative quality to a challenging adventure

My husband & I were on the same Peru Trek as Adventurous Kara in the review below. The vivacity & knowledge Elizabeth brought with her added to the group immensely. Even though she was on a scouting expedition for her future company trips, she took the time to lead us in yoga/meditation sessions before, during & after our daily treks. The sessions were amazingly restorative in that Elizabeth was attentive to each of our individual needs. She really surprised me when I developed a headache from the insect repellent I was using during our trek & relieved my grief after whipping out her oils to massage into my temples. I plan on taking some future trips with her company in Idaho simply because I think it would be amazing to combine a wilderness adventure with Elizabeth's mindfulness & knowledge of her yoga practice. 10. 1.0 Allred's Adventures Sawtooth Wilderness Outfitters (1 review)
    - AVOID

Allred's Adventures Sawtooth Wilderness Outfitters image
Booked a pack in deer hunt, paid 10 months in advance, outfitter forgot to get our tags, we were out. Had to find something in a month. Needless to say, we paid a lot for a crap hunt. Outfitter agreed to give us a discounted hunt in the future, in writing, now I am told he will not honor it. I also referred a friend, before all this happened, he ended up going this past fall, saw very little, 2 other camps there were guided for deer, my buddy talked to them, didn’t see a single deer.
