Welcome to the Riviera of the West! A Salmon River rafting dreamland come true. This is the legendary Salmon River of No Return where beautiful white-sand beaches glisten in the warm sun. Where 70-degree water beckons swimmers of all ages and whitewater rapids splash and make everyone beam with big grins from ear to ear. No other rafting river in the West is such a perfect combination of fun, intermediate rapids, awe-inspiring western scenery and gigantic white sand beaches with idyllic camping conditions. Daytime temperatures are typically 85 to 95 degrees and this, coupled with the warm river water, make for a rafting vacation like no other.See more..
Read about the overlook on tripadvisor, went there to "judge for ourselves", and it is definately worth the drive. It's about 18 miles from the town of Bruneau,Idaho. Normal road, only the last approx. 6 miles go over a dirt/gravel road, not too bad at all. And unlike some revieuws say, it is easy to find, keep your eyes open and watch the signs.See more..
There are TWO locations. One is near the highway, which, when wet, does not allow access to the canyon. Two takes about 25 mins drive following a BLM guide. It leads to a diversion dam. When there is no water, it allows some exploration. I would have loved this place more if I had a bit more information, such as the route and potential challenges. We went in the heat of summer. It is cooler in the "canyon." But it is hard to navigate. We bailed after a mile or so, following the 2nd option. Nevertheless, it was worth it. If you follow the 2nd option, navigate carefully. I used a combination of navigation apps and paper map, crossed two bridges, and drove on an AWD trail.See more..
We made our way to the overlook to enjoy some great views and we weren’t disappointed. It’s a bit of a drive on some dirty roads but their a few other places we visited to enjoy the views of the river. If your in the area I would certainly recommend coming out and taking in the views.See more..
Box Canyon was recommend by our waitress, we followed her instructions and came upon the gravel parking lot after traveling on some barren road to a fence and some stairs with not really much in the way of signs. Then we walked towards a path and this beautiful picture of the blue water opened up!! We were shocked. Exploring a little further we found a path with people on it that said there was a waterfall further down the path. Not really sure of where we going we just kept walking and then a beautiful blue/green waterfall in our sight burst out to capture our attention. What a find. So pleased we received this recommendation!!See more..
