I cannot express enough how fantastic this experience was! I was a very hesitant rider, having had a bad horse accident when I was a kid, and I had never gotten “back in the saddle” until this ride. My family of 5 (kids ages 17, 14 and 11) took the two-hour ride up and down various mountain trails to the top of a peak with a spectacular view. The horses were so impressive, calm, and hand-picked for each rider. I will never forget my sweet girl, Smokey! But perhaps more wonderful than the horses and the view was the fantastic family that runs this operation. I could have talked with them all day - such wonderful people who truly wanted us to have the best experience possible. Well, that we did! So take the beautiful drive from Jackson Hole, WY to Victor, ID and spend your day with this amazing family and their beautiful horses. I promise, you won’t regret it!See more..
5.0Dry Ridge Outfitters(88 reviews) - Everything i could have imagined Sunday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Multi-day Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours • Horseback Riding Tours
Deb and Kevin were terrific. Really genuine people who provided an excellent family experience. One aspect of their business that I was especially appreciative of was their willingness to take my son, who is a very confident little 7 year old. I wanted him to have the experience of riding a horse in the county as I did when I was young and visiting the Tetons; Kevin quite honestly could not have been a better person for the task. He has a terrific combination of personality and patience. I also appreciated that when we got to our lunch spot he had three trained black bears in a tree waiting (just kidding, of course) - but the coincidence was uncanny. I loved that we still got off our horses and enjoyed lunch in that same spot despite the bears. My 7 year old quietly pulled out his swiss army knife in case he had to defend us. Such a hilarious and memorable moment. Thank you so much Deb and Kevin. I wish you both well.See more..
5.0Sun Valley Outfitters(38 reviews) - Kids camp that's a must Sunday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Multi-day Tours • Adrenaline & Extreme Tours • Fishing Charters & Tours • Hiking & Camping Tours • Private Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours • Horseback Riding Tours • Day Trips
We sent out kids to the 1/2 day kids camp and they each caught at least 1 fish. They couldn't stop talking about their day and the fun they had with their 'guide', Tatum. Two days later they were still talking about her and how she helped them catch a fish. The ride on the bus was fun for them and they were so excited we ended up buying gear to commemorate the day. They took a couple of pictures of the kids so we could see the fun they had and the smiles were ear-to-ear.See more..
5.0Rawhide Outfitters(38 reviews) - Great rafting company! River Rafting & Tubing • Fishing Charters & Tours • Horseback Riding Tours
The rafting trip on the Salmon River was so much fun! We had 3 guides two of which were in boats and the 3rd drove ahead and made us a delicious lunch of grilled chicken, salad, and potato salad. We had homemade granola bars and blueberry cake, thank you Kathy! The river was low but it was still a lot of fun and relaxing. The boat guides were very interesting sharing information about the river and the area along the river which were old gold mines. We highly recommend this company!See more..
5.0Pioneer Outfitters(33 reviews) - Half-Day Ride w Morgan = 5 Stars! Hiking & Camping Tours • Horseback Riding Tours
We took a half-day ride (8:30am-11:30am) with our amazing guide, Morgan! We are beginner riders, and she made us feel super safe and reassured with tips and tricks to help manage our sweet horses Flint, Jeep, Speed, Clyde and Jasper. We climbed up the beautiful mountain leading up to Titus Lake, and Morgan was a wealth of knowledge, explaining the mining history of Galena, calling out the beautiful wildflowers, and answering our endless questions about horses. We walked around Titus Lake once we reached the top, she took some awesome pictures of our family on horseback, and then we headed down the mountain for even more stunning views. Would HIGHLY recommend Pioneer Outfitters, and if you go during the summer months, would suggest taking the morning ride— the weather was absolutely perfect with a light jacket. Thanks for such a memorable experience, Morgan! We will be back!See more..

We called a lot of places in the area and everyone was booked. They ended up calling us back and opening a later slot. We had Sadie and Erin. Erin was absolutely fantastic, my brother was very nervous and she just reassured and helped him the whole time. She was very personable and friendly. We talked the whole time, even if it was though other people. Definitely recommend this family run business.See more..

4.5Sun Valley Stables(6 reviews) - Friendly staff, fun ride, great views! Horseback Riding Tours
I planned a surprise horseback ride for my wife's 30th birthday! She was super excited. We arrived and were quickly greeted. We signed a waiver, paid, given a quick brief, and assigned a horse. All instructions were simple to follow. I liked that they made it fun. My wife and I lucked out... we were suppose to ride with a few more people on the ride but they cancelled. So my wife and I got a private ride. We had a guide in the front and one in the back. We stayed together and headed up the mountain trail. They gave us a carry case for our phones that connected to the saddle so we could take pictures any time we liked. We took a different zig-zag trail down the mountain. My wife had an absolute blast and we look forward doing it again the next time we come to town. Thanks to everyone at Sun Valley Stables!See more..

My wife and I are 59 and 65, respectively. In the past two years we visited the Grand Canyon and then Yellowstone. We fell in love with the West. We noticed other tourist horseback riding in area's that were not available to us by car. Rather than hike, we wanted to horseback ride into the wilderness. After much research and price shopping, we decided on White Cloud. The price was right, the wilderness was right and the folks seemed right. With much trepidation, we arrived in Challis on Sunday night. The outfitter helped us find a quaint motel in town to get organized and in the morning, met our hosts and guide (Rick). The horses were gentle and we started up a 3 hour ride into the White Clouds. The scenery was amazing, and Rick was very helpful. When we arrived in our base camp, it was incredible. My wife and I had our own giant tent with a stove, wood, cots, mattresses, etc. Each day, we started with an incredible breakfast, made huge lunches, rode the horses to one amazing place after another, returned to a huge dinner, campfire and good company. Do NOT spend a lot of money elsewhere. This is the place to go.See more..
Booked a pack in deer hunt, paid 10 months in advance, outfitter forgot to get our tags, we were out. Had to find something in a month. Needless to say, we paid a lot for a crap hunt. Outfitter agreed to give us a discounted hunt in the future, in writing, now I am told he will not honor it. I also referred a friend, before all this happened, he ended up going this past fall, saw very little, 2 other camps there were guided for deer, my buddy talked to them, didn’t see a single deer.See more..
Our family of four (we have two teenagers) went in a group with four other college students. Granite Creek had 3 guides go with us. We did the hour and a half ride which went up onto the top of the hill, and what a view! The horses were great, and we felt really safe on the ride. A family came later with two young boys, and they went on a shorter, flat, one hour ride. Thank you, Peter, for listening to me ramble. We had a great time. We would definitely go again.See more..
