4.0Charleston City Market(8.141 reviews) - A must visit, but not necessarily a must buy Tuesday: 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Flea & Street Markets
Established in the 1790s, this historic landmark is one of the oldest public markets in the U.S. There’s everything from handmade crafts, trinkets, and jewelry to the nation’s most prized souvenir—the woven sweetgrass basket. Certain weekend nights even have a special night market that runs until late. Enjoy live entertainment, embrace Charleston’s Southern charm, and soak in the lively atmosphere. It’s a fantastic way to support the local artisans and their work, too. Visit the market as a stop along a Charleston city tour and remember to have cash handy for payments. – TripadvisorSee more..

4.5Angel Oak Tree(2.392 reviews) - 400-500 Year Old Live Oak Tree Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Geologic Formations
While visiting the McLeod Plantation and seeing their 300 year old live oak, we were told we should visit the nearby Angle Oak Tree to see one even older. We saw claims online that it was 600 years old, but the placards on the property indicated it is more likely to be 400-500 years old. The parking is relatively limited - just a dozen or so spots off the road. We were simply lucky that one spot was available when we arrived. Placards state that this is the oldest live oak tree east of the Mississippi River. It was, indeed, huge and majestic, so it is worth 15 minutes of someone's time to drop by when in the area.See more..

4.5McLeod Plantation Historic Site(1.272 reviews) - Do the tour guide Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks
Established in 1851, McLeod Plantation has borne witness to some of the most significant periods of Charleston's - and our nations - history. Today McLeod Plantation is an important 37-acre Gullah/Geechee heritage site that has been carefully preserved in recognition of its cultural and historical significance. The grounds include a riverside outdoor pavilion, a sweeping oak allée, and the McLeod Oak, which is thought to be more than 600 years old. It is a place like no other, not frozen in time but vibrant, dynamic, and constantly evolving, where the winds of change whisper through the oak trees and voices from the past speak to all who pause to listen. McLeod Plantation was built on the riches of sea island cotton - and on the backs of enslaved people whose work and culture are embedded in the Lowcountry's very foundation. It is a living tribute to the men and women and their descendants that persevered in their efforts to achieve freedom, equality, and justice. All of their stories - black and white, enslaved and free - are given their due. After years of careful research and restoration, McLeod Plantation Historic Site invites visitors to embark upon an in-depth exploration of the lives of those people whose stories are essential to understanding Charleston's complex past and helped shape who we, as a nation, are today.See more..
3.0South of the Border(960 reviews) - Rates are increased, still no amenities. Points of Interest & Landmarks
This has always been a go to spot for us. It was reasonably priced, and always very clean. Yes, it’s dated, the bedding was old as were the linens, etc., but it was clean. They recently raised their rates, comparable to the better known chains, Hampton Inn, comfort inn, etc. Unfortunately, they cannot keep up with the amenities of these other hotels. Too bad, it was a good value, but not anymore. They’ve also closed the hot tamale restaurant, and a redirecting everyone to the sombrero period, twice the price.See more..

4.5The Peachoid(180 reviews) - Worth a photo stop Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Peachoid is a 135 foot tall water tower in the town of Gaffney, South Carolina, that resembles a peach. The water tower holds 1 million U.S. gallons of water and is located off Peachoid Road by Interstate 85 between exits 90 and 92. The water tank is visible for a significant amount of time while driving around these exits. An example of novelty architecture, the Peachoid is one of the most recognizable landmarks for road travelers along I-85 between Charlotte and Atlanta. It is more easily accessible for viewing and for clicking photos while driving southbound on I-85 towards Atlanta. It is worth a photo stop. However if one is pressed for time, then one can click photos/videos of same while driving.See more..
4.0Tunnel Vision Mural(155 reviews) - Well worth stopping to look if nearby Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
Big, free, mural on a public wall. Very cleverly painted to look 3D. Park in the street nearby for 25c for 20 minutes, which is enough to see the mural and the World's largest fire hydrant nearby (see separate review and photos). Both fun - definitely worth a visit when you are in the area. If my review has informed you, please reward me with a "Helpful" vote - thank you.See more..
4.5Artisphere(148 reviews) - Look forward to this every year. Points of Interest & Landmarks
This is a fantastic venue, lots of participation from a variety of artists all over our great country. While some are a bit high, you can understand that but some are just above what people here are willing to pay here; there can be really good bargains if you know how to shop for them. It's outdoors along the main street of downtown Greenville which makes for a perfect outing. All though it would be nice to see more of the small business' open as well during this event, many are not, that's a downside.See more..

We were looking for some where cool to walk our dog while we were staying in Spartanburg. This was a gem and a great find. It was a beautiful walk beside a stream with waterfalls. I love waterfalls! There is part of the trail that goes up a hill. It is in a circle area. I'm not sure I would have found it if it weren't for our dog insisting to go that way. I was glad she did. We found ourselves in the middle of a field of bamboo. It was very cool to walk through. GPS took us to the wrong side of the bridge where there isn't any parking. After walking across the bridge we found parking so we moved our car instead of leaving it on the roadside. This was a very enjoyable morning walk.See more..
