While visiting the McLeod Plantation and seeing their 300 year old live oak, we were told we should visit the nearby Angle Oak Tree to see one even older. We saw claims online that it was 600 years old, but the placards on the property indicated it is more likely to be 400-500 years old. The parking is relatively limited - just a dozen or so spots off the road. We were simply lucky that one spot was available when we arrived. Placards state that this is the oldest live oak tree east of the Mississippi River. It was, indeed, huge and majestic, so it is worth 15 minutes of someone's time to drop by when in the area. This resort was ok.It is in need of maintainence. We had mold in our unit. There are signs of poor maintainance all around the resort. You must travel at least 25 miles to get to anything worth seeing. The outdoor pool and restaurant are one mile from the resort. Even the locals asked, why would you come to a resort in Wesrminster. The staff was very nice.It is very quiet and overall everything worked in unit. I would not return. See more..

This is a beautiful and well kept nature trail. I visited with my grandfather back in the early '70's and took my own children in the early 2000's. My family visited just months before the Rock toppled. Its still a beautiful place to hike and let the kids climb rocks. See more..
