We visited when the visitors center was closed, but a friendly Ranger gave us a brochure and produced the Parks Passport cancellation stamp. There were two reenactors demonstrating period firearms. The trail is well laid out and easy to walk with boards to explain the progress of the battle. There is a picnic area but it was closed at the time. See more..

While in Augusta this spring we found out that an annual event nearby in South Carolina is a reenactment of the Battle of Aiken. The participants were dressed in vintage costumes and reenacted two battles between the North and the South. It was very authentic with Cavalry, foot soldiers and artillery fire. It was a 3 day event that is held in February every year. There was live bluegrass music, food vendors, and plenty of tents selling souvenirs. We really enjoyed it. See more..

Glad to see this small, American Revolution Battlefield still preserved. Yes, it's not a major site- but still played a part in history. Well preserved with a nice marker detailing the events that took place on the grounds. Appears that sometimes flags are flown, as I saw 3 flagpoles.Great to stop, take some photos and witness a piece of history See more..
  5. 5.0 Battle Of Musgrove Mill State Historic Site (1 review)
    - Great Visit for People Who Love to Visit Historic Sites
    Battlefields
We stopped at this location on our way home from Hilton Head Island. My husband and I love to visit historic sites and find out about the history of events that take place in different regions. The Battle of Musgrove Mill is a location where a battle took place during the Revolutionary War (August 19, 1790). There is a visitors center with a small gift shop. You can pick up a map and then head over to Horseshoe Falls Road to do the outside tour. You first encounter Horseshoe Falls and then begin an approximately 2.5 mile interpretive trail. There is signage along the way that tells you what took place in the area. South Carolina is humid so this might be a good activity for a spring or fall day that isn't very hot. We went later in the day so the sun wasn't bad but it was still sticky feeling. If you enjoy history, this might be the place for you. We love to learn about what has taken place at various locations. See more..
