I have been visiting Aiken for 47 years. I never considered visiting these lovely gardens. I was overwhelmed at the peaceful feeling flowing from the huge canopy of giant live oaks. July is not the Camelia time, but regardless, the huge variety of trees and shrubs is amazing. Many of the trees lining the brick pathways are identified by placards..with audio info available by calling a number. Most interesting was the stables with statues of famous horses and often more famous owners. Even one very fast white male has its story told. One disappointment was the carriage museum being closed. And the garden is free admission.See more..

We thought this was a very nice place for a quiet hike through the woods and over the boardwalk. We ended up at a beautiful lake. We really enjoyed all the trees loaded with seashells - put there by visitors. We had never seen anything like it, so added our own, of course. There was a park there at the end of the trail and children played on the playground. There were also bathroom facilities in the park. Then we headed back pretty much the way we came but veered off on another trail part of the time. We would recommend this for anyone who wants a delightful easy hike. (I think we were following blue and red markers most of the way.)See more..
It was a beautiful sunny day in March. The Azaleas (which should have been gorgeous) had been struck by frost a week before. There were definitely still some flowers-but not as many as usual. In another week they should be back in their beauty. We saw so many birds, turtles, and butterflies. Nice walking paths and sculptures.See more..

Stroll through Moore Farms Botanical Garden's 65 dynamic acres set in the rural Pee Dee region near Lake City, South Carolina. Embracing its southern pastoral setting through an informal, expressive design scheme, the garden is a careful blend of artistic plantings, picturesque views and living sculptures. Woven throughout this aesthetic tapestry are innovative research, educational programs and community outreach. Like new brush strokes on a canvas or revisions to a script, plants are added, bed lines shifted and landscapes reimagined. Even imperfections are nurtured and enhanced, for true garden magic lies in the unexpected. There are new discoveries to be made every season, as this is a garden that evolves, changes and inspires. This is a gardener’s garden.See more..
