Just got back from Myrtle. We were there for a softball tourney. A friend of mine wanted to go fishing. I found Captain Smiley via Duck Duck Go search. We had an excellent time!! Weather was nice. We did the full day intracoastal trip. Our Guide "Buddy" was awesome!! Had some great stories and very knowledgeable about the water ways. We started great right out of the gate with 4 fish within an hr. Due to the time of year we mainly drift fished into the currents along the shore lines. We ended up with approximately 15 fish, 7 of them being keepers. All Speckled Trout. There were several very nice sized trouts!! We were debating whose hotel room we were cooking the fish in.. LOL... They suggested Crab Catches right down the road... Crab Catchers fried our fish up for a decent price. We got a load of fries, slaw and hush puppies. We ate like kings!! Overall a great outing.. When I called Blueway adventures, I had a dual purpose: I wanted very specifically to visit the graves of my ancestors who are buried on Church Island in the middle of Lake Marion AND I wanted a fun activity for my extended family that would make getting together fun for all ages. Blueway Adventures delivered! When I called, Deb was so helpful and flexible with setting up the tour (and with sharing area historical resources)--perfect since I was organizing the trip for my extended family! Once we were on site, they prepared all of us with both safety and fun in mind. The activity was perfect for novices, seniors, children, and everyone in between. Added perks included lots of information about the habitat, and once on Church Island, Deb pulled out her camera and took a series of pictures so we can always remember our adventure! We had a great time touring Lake Jocasse with Kevin at Southern Outlaw Adventures. We had contemplated renting a boat and exploring the lake ourselves but it was almost the same price as a 4 hour tour. We were able to sit back and relax while Kevin took us to all the must-see spots on the lake. Some were tucked away and would have been difficult to find by ourselves. Awesome experience with Phil. He was very patient with the kids, everyone had a great time. He took us to a swimming spot which the girls enjoyed the most. Went fishing once it got cooler outside and the girls had a blast reeling the fish in. Also, they enjoyed when Phil would drive the boat fast. Absolutely enjoyed our tour with Sam on Lake Jocassee. We had plenty of room for our party of six, and the boat was very comfortable. Sam is very friendly and helpful, and has great knowledge of the lake and the area. We had to maneuver around a little bit of rain (very common on this lake), but Sam handled it really well. We spent 3 days fishing w/ Capt. Jim. Caught fish aplenty all 3 days. He is knowledgeable of the Santee Cooper lakes, very safety conscious and has a comfortable boat. The boat is a 30' pontoon w/ covered area for relaxing out of the sun, wide open fishing area where 6 lines are kept in the water, an enclosed porta-potty (a necessity for the ladies). You do need to bring your own snacks, lunch and drinks--we took sandwiches, fruit, water and sodas. The first two days we used something called, "stink bait" which really did! But apparently the catfish like it. The first day we caught 47, the second 9 while anchored in favorite spots. The third day we used "cut bait" and drift fished with sea anchors to slow us down. We drifted at 0.4 mph. We caught 23 fish--all nice sized. We took the fish back to our camp to fillet them and ended up w/35 quart bags of fish. The scenery was beautiful, saw lots of egrets and herons on the banks as well as an alligator or two. Although fishing is fun, catching is even way better! Each day's adventure was 6-8 hours. We caught Arkansas blue catfish and channel catfish.See more..

Keith is a great guide who took my wife and myself catfishing on Lake Marion in South Carolina on March 26th. He had us into action in no time. If you never did it before, book a trip with Keith and be ready for some reel action. Most of our catfish were in the 18 to 20 pound range with one weighing in at 40 plus pound. He is friendly, dependable, very knowledgeable of the local waterways and most importantly we caught nice big redfish.
