We were in Columbia for lunch after visiting Congaree National Park located nearby. The fireplug area is very nice and we found a great place nearby for a relaxing meal and a cocktail. The world's largest fireplug? Worth a photo at least. Enjoy! See more..

We were on the way to Charleston and stopped in Summerville just to see this after doing some research. So it is difficult to find. I suggest parking along the street thats next to the park and fountain. It’s across the street from the town hall. Walk into that area and its right near some stairs tucked away. I’m sure it was an impressive thing to see originally but the monument is pretty neat as well. World’s largest things are pretty cool to see usually. The town is so nice at their Main Street. I wouldn’t drive super far out of my way to see this but it worked out very well to see on the way to Charleston. Get some sweet tea at a local restaurant and do some local shopping while you’re there! See more..

The memorial is done differently than others I’ve been to. Every war is remembered. There are 4 walls with the names of the fallen on them. Also 2 special monuments representing 2 men from WWII are prevalent. This is a place to remember & honor those from Darlington County who lost their lives fighting for our freedom. See more..
