    Distillery Lane Ciderworks image
Tours and Retail sales closed until Fall 2023. Distillery Lane Ciderworks sits on 95 acres in Jefferson, Maryland—just outside of the historic town of Burkittsville. The farm is a historic site, dating back to the Civil War, and is officially known as “The Encampment” as the farm was used as a camp for Union soldiers leading up to the battle of Antietam. Rob Miller, his wife, Patty Power, and their three children moved to the farm in 2001. Prior to the Millers, the farm had never been used as an apple orchard. However, having always been cider fans (both fresh and hard cider) and with the farm located in a prime region to grow apples, they decided to enter the cider-making world. Today, the farm grows over 40 varieties of apples, including rare, heritage varieties, most prized for making hard cider. The tasting room is open specific Saturdays and Sundays during harvest season. Check our website for updates on special events! See more..

  12. 4.5 Patapsco Distilling Company (7 reviews)
    - Perfect use for an historic building
    Spent 1-2 hours Distilleries
    Patapsco Distilling Company image
After enjoying cocktails made from products of the Patapsco Distillery at a nearby restaurant, we decided to visit the Distillery and buy a bottle to take home. There were many choices ranging from gin to limoncello. We decided on a Maryland tradition, rye whiskey. The Rockfish Rye was also blended with corn and barley. The cold filtered whiskey was smooth. We happily enjoyed a shot neat on reaching home. The Distillery makes good use of an historic building that has served both as a church parish house and a store. See more..

  14. 5.0 Ellicott Distilling Co. (2 reviews)
    - Great New Addition To Historic Ellicott City
    Saturday: 12:00 PM - 7:00 PM Distilleries
Walking back to our car after an afternoon in historic downtown Ellicott City, we notice the door open and the open sign flashing earlier than we thought their hours were, so we walked in. On the 1st floor we met a gentleman bottling Limoncello and he told us to head upstairs. On the 2nd floor they have a small room with a elevated bar and table/chairs overlooking Main Street. They also have a small deck outside, where we ended up, as well as a lighted stairway to the top of the property to another small deck and gazebo overlooking Ellicott City. We were told the owners were from Slovakia and Russia and you can see influences of that on their menu. We ended up meeting 1 of them and she was delightful as were the 2 other staff members we encountered. They have a small menu of 3 dips,2 small plates, 2 charcuterie plates and 2 desserts which work perfectly for this venue. They have a full range of drinks available and my wife liked her Ginger Mojito and my Vodka Breeze with blueberry liqueur was great. The 1st thing we said to each other was that we could taste the alcohol, since often you gets drinks at places that seen to be lacking it. They also have Liqueur and Whiskey flights as well as bottle sales of their Bourbon, Rye, Single Malt, Gin, Vodka, Rum, Liqueur and Cello's. A small selection of beer and wine is available too. The Ellicott Distilling Co. turned out to be a little gem and we look forward to a return trip to check out some of their food menu. It would be nice if they were open later than 7pm on Saturday. - Some dang good Shine!
    Distilleries
    Southern Trail Distillery image
We really enjoyed our stop at Southern Trail Distillery. I had a flight of different Moonshines and the rest of my friends enjoyed various cocktails. My favorite shine was the Spicy Pear, which I got a bottle of on the way out. They also served food, which we sampled a few appetizers and were very happy with the selections. Our service was good and the place was pretty much packed on the inside while we were there. Being in an industrial building, the acoustics made for a loud time. There is a good amount of seating outside as well, it was just a tad hot to enjoy ourselves sitting out there. See more..
  17. 5.0 White Tiger Distillery (1 review)
    - Enjoyed Lao Rice Whisky
    Distilleries
    White Tiger Distillery image
White Tiger Distillery produces its rice whisky in the style of owner's native country of Laos and makes its rye whisky from Maryland-raised grain. I enjoy meeting them at the Bel Air Farmers Market and discussing the processes such as making the rice mash all the way through to the finished product. White Tiger does host weekend events at its Forest Hill location as well as participate in other off site events in the county. I first bought the Master Mason which is a blend of rye and rice. For a saturday cookout I bought a mix of their fruit Daiquiris, which everyone enjoyed. most recently I bought the Lao style whisky aged in oak barrels to a fine smoothness. In these days of COVID-19 they also make an alcohol based hand sanitizer. I enjoy learning about the history and steps in making the product as much as I do the tasting. See more..
