    - Just saw Frances Scott Key's grave

    Mount Olivet Cemetery image
I has a little trouble finding the entrance near Key's grave. Thankfully it's just inside the gate. There was a small area beside the grave I was able to park in. The grave is a giant monument complete with a statue of Key on top. A billboard near the monument has a button that plays the Star Spangled Banner. I can't review the rest of the grave because Key's grave is as far as I went. See more..

    Point Lookout Confederate Cemetery image
The memorial is very well kept listing the names of the persons that they know died here. Many more prisoners died than records were found to identified the dead. In December 2018 there was a guard parked at the entrance 24/7 guarding the monument from vandals wishing to destroy history. See more..

Fort Lincoln Funeral Home and Fort Lincoln Cemetery image
On 6/18/22 I had the difficult task of making burial arrangements for my husband. Over the years I have admired Fort Lincoln Cemetery for being such a well kept, organized, and secure cemetery as a final resting place for loved ones. Words can not express how grateful I am that TIA NEWTON was assigned to assist my family and I with burial arrangements. With her comforting words and kind spirit she made and extremely difficult process a breeze. Tia explained every detail of the burial process and if I had any questions she responded promptly. Fort Lincoln was a great chose for my husband and my family and I would like to give a sincere Thank you! See more..
  10. 4.5 St. Mary's Episcopal Church (2 reviews)
    - Peaceful setting for Harford County history
    Cemeteries • Churches & Cathedrals
    St. Mary's Episcopal Church image
St. Mary's Episcopal Church is one of four Harford County "offspring" of St John's Parish in Kingsville. Founded in 1848, the church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. The grounds reflect the beauty of each season, colorful leaves in the fall, bright azaleas in the spring and a variety of summer lilies. Gravestones date from the founding with some former parishioners born in the 1700s. St Mary's could easily be thought to be an old English parish church. One forgets the busy highway in the front when perusing the peaceful and well maintained Cemetery adorned with tall stately trees. The church is an important stop on any tour of Harford history. 11. 3.5 Pine Grove Cemetary (2 reviews)
    - Basic layout remains, but housing developments encroaching
    Spent < 1 hour Cemeteries • Churches & Cathedrals
    Pine Grove Cemetary image
Pine Grove was a great place to play hide and seek when we were kids. Sledding was another prime activity on what then seemed like a long drive that went on forever. Now on return visits to Mt. Airy one finds that the land acquired from farming pastures in the back is boxed in by housing developments. It is still a peaceful place. The historical value of the property makes a leisurely walk educational. While the correct address of Main Street is listed, the map puts the Cemetery out on old Route 40 past Ridgeville. I have asked that this be corrected. See more..
  12. 3.5 Mt. Carmel Chapel (2 reviews)
    - Historic Chapel, Well Maintained Cemetery
    Cemeteries • Churches & Cathedrals
    Mt. Carmel Chapel image
Mt Carmel Chapel is quaint stone Church that offers weekly services. It is sort of hidden in plain site, being situated at a very busy intersection. There are a mix of graves dating back over 150 years. Even with the busy roads one can still get a sense of peace standing under a tree facing the back which is the direction the chapel faces since, in fact, that is the original Emmorton Road. The grounds are well maintained with adequate parking, so it is worth the stop and sit on the stone benches within the cemetery. See more..
  13. 5.0 St. George's Parish, Spesutia (1 review)
    - 350 years of history
    Cemeteries • Churches & Cathedrals
    St. George's Parish, Spesutia image
St. George's Parish, at 350 years old (1671) is the oldest Episcopal Parish in Maryland, let alone Harford County. Regular services stopped in 2012 when attendance dipped below two dozen souls. The buildings and grounds are still maintained quite well including the small brick vestry house which is on the national historic register. The cemetery is a lesson in hundreds of years of history, too. Although today the grounds were a bit soggy due to the melting snow, the walk around is peaceful and majestic. See more..
  14. 5.0 Cemetery Of St John's Lutheran Church (1 review)
    - Peaceful, Historic and Well-Maintained Cemetery
    Cemeteries
Cemetery Of St John's Lutheran Church image
Although the actual parish church of St. Johns has moved in to town, the Cemetery bearing its name is well maintained here in Blenheim/Long Green. The site dates back around 170 years and is "home" to many immigrant families who arrived in the Port of Baltimore in the 19th Century. A visit is both educational and inspiring. See more..
  15. 5.0 Fork United Methodist Church (1 review)
    - 250 years of history
    Cemeteries • Churches & Cathedrals
    Fork United Methodist Church image
2021 is the 250th anniversary of Fork United Methodist Church, located about a mile north of the village of Fork. It's likely that the current coronavirus epidemic will limit festivities, but that does not prevent one from stopping by and admiring the white tower against the snow. In better weather one can look for the centuries old tombstones in the large church cemetery. The beautiful rolling farmland of the county are a reward for anyone driving out to the church and beyond. See more..
  16. 5.0 Christ Episcopal Church (1 review)
    - Two Centuries of Service
Architectural Buildings • Cemeteries • Churches & Cathedrals
    Christ Episcopal Church image
Christ Episcopal Church is nestled in a little valley along Rockspring Road just south of Forest Hill. It is a classic stone building with the traditional welcoming red doors. Two centuries of existence has allowed a large cemetery to grow on both sides of the building. Age means that it is difficult to read some of the oldest headstones, but one still gets a strong sense of history on seeing the names of many well known Harford County families. Large stained glass art graces the windows. Although commercial development in the area continues, the cornfield that borders the cemetery takes one back to the rural days when the church was built. 17. 5.0 Holy Trinity Episcopal Church (1 review)
    - Quiet country church
    Cemeteries • Churches & Cathedrals
    Holy Trinity Episcopal Church image
Holy Trinity was founded among the rolling farm lands surrounding Churchville around 155 years ago. A plaque near the entrance notes that the church is on the national historic register. The welcoming red doors are well maintained as is the classic granite building and the surrounding cemetery. Graves date back to the time of the church's founding, but a new addition Is a columbarium consisting of two low walls containing crypts for interring cremains. The congregation is also served by a modern Parish house. A few spring crocuses added to the pleasure of a peaceful walk around the grounds. See more..
