The Harford Artists' Association Gallery had a booth at the recent Bel Air Farmers Market, and that reminded me that I had never been to their Gallery nestled behind the Bel Air Armory. I walked from Main Street through the pleasant Ward Park along side the Armory back to the glaaers and was pleasantly surprised with the huge amount of items on display including different styles of painting, jewlery, ceramics, photography, sculpture, and knitting. Interestingly the Gallery also serves as the town's visitor center. I was particularly drawn to three paintings composed by a controlled dripping/wash of acrylic and had to purchase one to bring home. It is good to learn that six 2-month exhibits are planned for 2022, giving reason for frequent returns.See more..

The Hagerstown City Park is home to a number of lovely attractions; the lake, the swans, the Museum of Fine Arts, the "Hager House" the Band Shell and one of the most unique art gallery's I've every seen, "The Mansion House". The Mansion House sits at the top of the hill overlooking he Park and the Band shell. You can walk up the hill and up the steps to it from the park below or if you're like me you can drive around the back of the Park to 501 Highland Way and avoid walking up the hill. Inside the Mansion House is filled with the work of local artists for sale and lots of it. Hagerstown is kind of an art mecca to start with and a visit to the Mansion House will affirm that fact. The Mansion House is open Friday and Saturday and Sunday, please check the Valley Art Associations (VAA) website for the exact hours and plan an art shopping trip at the Mansion House.See more..

This was a fantastic store located near the college. I found it by chance, it was one of those frustrating places where you love everything and want to take everything with you until you are reminded that you are travelling, sigh. One person I was with even explored how to obtain the amazing round, hand made dining room table. So many unique pieces and so little time! Harmer's Town Art Center is a work in progress on Market Street. The name of the arts center recognizes the original town designation of Harmer's Town before General Lafayette renamed it Havre de Grace during the Revolutionary War. Today we see huge murals of local historic buildings and landmarks at graw alley artist park. Viewing these historical depictions is a good activity to add to a visit to the nearby weekly Farmers Market and the waterside Hutchins Park. Space that will become offices and studios for tge center are currently occupied by antique shops. A large mural brings to life Maryland's long history in horse racing.
